Utah!

I'm still not sure if it's an injury or illness. Sundance, I'd love it if you could. My neighbor reported that she'd give him plain water with a syringe every half hour, but said he wasn't doing as well with it. I haven't tried feeding him, let me try...

Ok, I put food in there, and he showed zero interest in it. Also wouldn't open his beak for water.

Oh sphinx, its awful! The only thing I have really studied up on is Marek's---that would be if it seemed to be one-sided, like one foot weaker, one wing weaker, leaning to one side...it causes paralysis that usually shows up on one side first. They can't stand often and prefer to sit and lean over...stuff like that. Polish are more susceptible than other birds for some reason. I will cross fingers it is not anything like that. Whatever it is, I sure hope this little guy pulls through.

He may be weak and they dehydrated, Plain water will not help him. Force his mouth open and give him some sugar water mixed with dextrose, Can you PM me your phone and we can work out a time. I'm going to Lisas to pick up my bcm but could stop by on way up. I need to tt Lisa to see what time is best for her

The Blue orp pullet was beautiful. HUGE, I am sure laying any day, bright red, looked like a very big hen. The trip to Paul is nice, you could still go get her! I would have, but Orps and Wyandottes are not my thing as much. You should go get that clean faced Ameraucana, she was adorable! There was a clean faced boy too. I really had a hard time walking away from that ameraucana.
I love my 2 mixes I got from her, very cute. Sweet little personalities too. They do not look like the Marans as much, more orange on them and big dark eyes. The OE is much more stand-offish. Looks much different than the OE's we got before, looks exactly like the FBCM's, same coloring, eyes, clean faced, everything. Then the little FBCM is very sweet also. Pretty happy with them

Oh boy.... Sounds like I need to figure out a way to sneak over there without DH noticing...lol I make him sound like a big ogre, he really isn't, he just teases me a lot about the chickens=) Would LOVE to see pics of those mixes you got!! I know, I'm feeling overly tempted about the clean amer, too, could put her in the with the Marans for some OE's, or in with the other Amers and just use them as EE's

We do not have a problem eating the roosters, There are a few hens that I have not been able to do, and most have been rehomed. I am hoping to only have about 10 total, but the number changes here and there.
That is an old cat, I am impressed.
Here is a pic of the older kittens.

cute kittens!! I love kittens!! Wish I wasn't allergic to them... We have a cat, but he's outside since I'm allergic... he's a, what did you call it, tuxedo cat also... really great personality... very calm and patient with my kiddos... I'd heard that thing about calicos being girls, but didn't know it about the oranges being boys, but it makes sense, all the orange cats I've known were boys=0) pretty cool that sex link happens in cats, too!! We had a long-lived cat when I was growing up, too, his name was Jocko, a tabby, great cat.. I think he was about 15 when he died...

I also have to think the two incidences are related....maybe thing 1 got out to go find help for Thing 2. Or thing 2 went crazy seeing thing 1 out. So sad, I hope he is ok when you get home, and I hope you are still able to enjoy your time and not worry too much.
Sundance you feeling better? I sure hope so.

So Red, the toroise shell is what they are called...i did not know that either

That is it then, the toroise shell is what I need to look for. Big patches of orange and black and white. They are so cute, I think it is the Tolbunt Polish on the brain that makes me want one, that is when i started thinking about it! haha!
My Zoey laid another blue egg today. Finally. She laid one a few days ago then no more until today. What is that about? My Aust. started one day and has laid at 10 am everyday since. Dang small, but everyday. So now I think that black and white EE "fatface" might be next. She laid in the nest with my Australorp the whole time she was laying her egg today. And the Aust. complained and yelled about it the whole time. Seriously, why don't they just go use another nest...I will never figure out why they all want to be in the same one! I still have 6 more squatting and no eggs yet. They are so stinkin noisy. I have the lav, GSL, BSL, White Rock, Squattie the EE, and 1 Polish. They are all over 20 weeks, up to 26 weeks. Patience is so hard to have right now! Then I have 4 more over 20 weeks not squatting yet.

You're going to be overflowing in eggs, Lisa!! lol!!! What are you going to do with them all?? I've been selling mine, and giving them away to people who bring me 4 or 5 cartons... between mine and my mom's we sometimes get a dozen a day...

Sphinx, so sorry about your bird... sounds like it needs electrolytes, like sundance was saying... like we need gatorade when we get overheated, plain water can make us sick... same kind of thing...

I gave him some electrolytes just now, got a couple drops in him. I also forcefed him some vitamins a few hours ago. He's still not eating, but he maybe seems a little better. I wish I knew more what was going on. If he's ill and contagious, I'd continue on, but if it's an injury or something else non contagious, I'd bring Thing 1 in; they're practically inseparable, and I think it'd help his spirits.

Sundance, I am pretty much wide open tomorrow, so I can meet you any time. I'm halfway tempted to try and hitch a ride up with you so I can see Lisa's place, but the responsible thing would be to stay home and clean up from the camping trip.

Come and hitch a ride. You can be responsible another day. How is the boy this AM

He tried to fight me more, which I think is good, means he's stronger, but I couldn't get him to drink any of the electrolyte solution, which is bad. Still not eating.

Last night we went to a party and got home late. As we pulled into the driveway, I spotted a skunk under our trailer. Per-chickens, part of me would've thought it was pretty neat. The other part would've been highly annoyed because my contact solution was still out there.

Now that I have chickens, I was annoyed it was making things tough. I checked on my birds after I grabbed my stuff and they're fine
