i do the same as red, just cut it a inch or so to the ground. do not harvest all the leaves at once, just take a few from each plant, i normally do the outer ones first. for my chickens i just pick a few and toss it in the run whole, they go crazy for it. then in the fall i put a heavy mulch layer around the plants such as leaves that fall in the fall or straw and they survived the winter. not a surprise it tastes like spinach, its in the same family as it

i eat it fresh too

i do not know what my spr is doing, its like she is broody but not broody, i am not even getting eggs from her now. if this is her being broody i hate to think what kind of mom she would be!

Ok, I have some to cut back then. I will do some today..will make a great side dish with the pulled chicken/sloppy joe mix I made yesterday in the crock pot.

I haven't had any luck with my KSL ad, no one here wants a BLRW cockerel? He's pretty and from corvidae so not hatchery stock. Free!

You poor thing..keep re posting it on ksl..don't let it get to far from the first page. Go delete the old one, and re post. Someone may see it that doesn't go to far into the listings. Just a suggestion. Hope it works.

X2! If you just be diligent and repost every day or two, the right person will get on there and see it. So far I have rehomed several on ksl....but it may go two weeks with no calls then a few call in one day, it is hit or miss.

A person contacted me saying that they have an acre lot around West Valley based on the address and have chickens to free range on it. The catch is I have to take him up there. I texted back and said I could meet. I'm not sure why I should have to drive 45-50 minutes out I my way to give them a bird for free..

I relisted again this morning and will again tomorrow as well. Cynthia I will still meet you for the exchequer no matter if I can get rid of this guy by then or not.

Yaay, she will be happy with you! And, I agree, you take the chicken to him? They should at least meet you half way!

I would love to get my hands on some of those Olive Eggs! How much do you charge? Or do you sell eggs..I know you do chickens..but eggs?
