Utah!

I'm coming on with the saddest news. It was just awful. We lost our Golden Retriever today. He died in front of me. I was playing with one of our smaller dogs, and Toby, was jumping up on the fence like he always does, but I heard a whimper, then a clunk. I turned around, and he was seizing. I knew right away, something really wrong had just happened, but what? I was hysterical. Went into the house yelling for Scott. He came out, I had gone out to see Toby again, but he was gasping, so I ran back in..and let Scott check him out. I poked my head out, and said, he's gone isn't he? One place, just one place on that stupid fence, and it seems that he caught his collar on it and snapped his neck. He is a heavy dog, so when he jumped back down with the collar stuck on it, it just instantly broke his neck. I can't believe this happened. I don't know why this happened. I can't stop crying. I keep seeing it. Keep me in your prayers, I'll take them. He is the one I just posted all of those pictures of him playing in the snow, fetching his ball. Glad I got those pictures. We are having him cremated. He will sit next to our other Golden that we had done. The boxes are really nice looking.

What is that? You draw? That would be so nice. Thank you!

Ok, I feel like I really put a damper on the site..yes, I'm pretty sad.
Change of mood here, guess what I just found. My first blue/green egg I've gotten in a long time. I haven't had a colored egg in a long time. Thinking, but not sure, that it was the Wheaten, or, it could have been the big blue EE. I've only seen the Wheaten in the nest box though, and Lisa says hers just started to lay. I came in to show Scott with tears in my eyes..and held out my pretty egg. He says...a green egg! He knows I've been waiting for it. Today was ok to get a new egg.

Thank you Diana..I'll bet you do see a lot of different things. You just never know. I would never have guessed that something like this would/could happen! I have heard of it, but this post really didn't even stick up that far, guess it caught just right. Strange is right.

Yes, that's what I did before I moved to Idaho. (Pet portrait artist) I'd be happy to do one for you. Email me some favorite photos of your sweet boy and I'll have it done by Christmas.

Congratulations on your new egg. :)

Oh Cynthia, I'm sitting here crying for you. I am so sorry. I know how much you loved Toby, and how he was such a sweet dog. What a terrible accident. I'm glad that it was quick and relatively painless, but I am so sad you don't get another decade with him.

I'm glad you got a beautiful blue/green egg though.

Red, I'm glad your turkey is ok. Hopefully this will spook her so she stays down.

I have sad news too- my silkie chick died today. No idea what happened. Found her laying in the warm spot that my brooder light makes. My poor frizzle is beside herself. I stuck a stuffed animal out there to try to be something to cuddle with. She can see the other birds through the chicken wire too, so hopefully she won't be too lonely.

Cynthia, so sorry about Toby

It is so upsetting when they have to go, especially like that. I'm keeping you in my prayers. I'm glad you got a pretty green egg today to help you a bit.

Sphinx, sorry you lost your Silkie! Man, this just isn't a good day for us, is it?

Brad, yes, he's always ever been a good neighbor. I took some eggs over to him so that he knows there're no hard feelings. I felt bad that he felt so bad.

The turkey jumped the fence again

I came home from taking my brother to work, and there was one of my white lawn ornaments, happily picking away at the grass. She's confined to the chicken run for the rest of the day. I'm going to have to figure out another way to keep her in our back yard.
