Utah!

Well, remember that when *I* go work on stuff, it's primarily me watching my dh do it. LOL My dh is seriously such a sweetheart for putting up with me.

This renter guy also feeds and waters all of the cows (including mine) 2x a day. So, other than a weekend when I covered for him when he was out of town, I haven't had to feed/water them since I weaned them. He's given them two different immunizations, and then the one had a cough (that admittedly probably came from his cows) that he's had to give a couple shots of antibiotics for. After giving him antibiotics for pinkeye the two times, I'm pretty good with NOT having to do that. If I get in a big pissing match with the guy, I would be stuck feeding them myself (which would be tricky because he used all "my" hay, and is now working on his supply), and watering them myself (which would be hauling water by hand 100' to the pasture. So, I think it's better for me to grit my teeth. And I know he feels bad about it, and I do think he is a nice guy. He saw us out working on the pen tonight and apologized again. I just hope it doesn't happen again!

Tonight dh and i went out there and used bits of a dog kennel to create a temporary wall so that the damaged chain link and netting area isn't available to the chickens. Then, we used another section of kennel to block off the damaged chicken wire. It's not pretty, but I think it'll last til spring.

I am so sorry that happened to you. I've been down to my vet friends all day. Long day. Wendy when are you coming over to trade chicks?

I have received all of my fertile eggs and into the incubator they go!
Sundance -you scared me with your egg shipment story because I live so close to you and I was just about to have mine sent. This time it turned out great, only 1 broken out of all 73 of them.
They were shipped from 3 different breeders and all arrived at the same time! Plus, our mealworms came that day too! Happy Day!

They have all rested and are cooking!

Here they all are!!!

Its fun looking at all the different kinds of eggs. I wish you had more tolbert polish. The bbs Marans eggs are as dark as the black copper marans eggs I just hatched. You are going to have fun hatching all of those.

I really wish I did too, but they were expensive and I had already over bought

The splits could possibly end up pure Tolbunt I was told. Pure Tolbunt Roo over Split girls with Tolbunt genes.
I really really hope it goes well, 2 eggs (BBS) already had to be removed for ooozing.

I am keeping some and selling some.  I ordered extras so I could sell some as I knew people would want them

I can't wait to see your Houdans :) I have had mine ordered (for march 4) since November, I am so excited to get them, you get yours first so you should post pics for us! I will get lots of Houdans, a few NN, WCB polish, Pure white polish, and some brown layers. I have never had a chick order before so I can hardly wait! I was waiting til March to allow for the weather to warm up, or I would have gotten them sooner....there will be so many I want to be able to get them outside at 4 weeks or so rather than the garage.

Cynthia has a friend hatching frizzledTolbunt Polish. I am hoping to get a smooth one from her....if not I will try to hatch some and see if you want any :)

Cyndiloo, you have some fun eggs! What are the Super Blue? are those leghorn/ameraucana mixes? I love those and would get chicks from you if that is what they are and you have extras for sale....I got one from Daloorashens and she lays the biggest egg of all my flock, everyday, love her <3 They are more green than blue, but they are great to put in my 'selling eggs' due to the size. Dying to know if that is what you have there....

Cyndiloo, WOW! Now that's a hatching project! All of you guys with your chicks and eggs are making me jealous! I have to wait a full month before I can start collecting Icelandic eggs for hatching, arrgg!

But hey, guess what? Two of the Icees are laying now! Yeah, little stinks. Don't know yet if the third is laying, but they're very distinctive. Small, but thin-shaped. One is white, the other is a lightly tinted egg.
