The Welsummer mystery continues...

Found another Welsummer-type egg in the coop today. No idea who is laying it. I just kind of shrugged and put it with the other one in the fridge.

Then I get to work and the boys text me, "We found a Welsummer egg next to the couch." HUH?? I made them go to the fridge and make sure the other two were still there. Sure enough, they are there and now we have an invisible chicken laying eggs in my living room. I'd complain, but the lack of chicken poop in the house kind of makes that pointless...

I have no idea what to think. Except that maybe I should start incubating these eggs. Could get some really nice looking invisible chickens from it. And they clearly don't eat much...

Oh my heck, I wonder what is going on? The one by the couch would have me wondering.
I had twin goats born today a big 3 lb. buck and a tiny 1 lb doe.

I think you need to have a talk with your DH and ask him were he is hiding the new chickens.

Donna, I think your boys are messing with ya Did you check your bator? Are all your dark eggs in there and none missing? So funny!

Cynthia, glad no spikes. Mine were messed up all day because I had to adjust. It has stayed so perfect, now it is all over the place I hope I can get it back to stable, those knobs are ridiculously overly sensitive. Candling here in a minute, hope they are doing ok!

Blujems, sounds like that was a good solution, the littles will do a lot less damage to that injured chick for sure. More cute baby goats? So now you have 11 babies? That is a LOT of bottles being made at your place. Holy Cow! Er Holy Goat! Hope you are getting some sleep over there!

I just candled too, and I think that the one OE from Red is still viable..the air sac looks really good, that's about all I can go by now. Really dark in there.
And the other three, I think came from her leghorn mix. They are doing really well.

Aren't those goats cute? Wonder if he is going to sell some goats sometime soon here.

Mimi, I've had ducks. They are a lot larger than the chicks. I am not sure I would put them in the same brooder. They waddle around with those big cute feet, could step on a little chickie.

Anyone ever try this?

Blujems, checked the Wheaten eggs, there were 4, 1 is positively doing good, a 2nd looks much smaller, may have quit but they are hard to see in so i will keep watching and probably put it in lockdown...the other 2 never developed at all, they were just yolks. Maybe it was too cold out, that week was brutal. If i get one only to hatch I will run that chick out to you asap lol I have none to keep it company for a week. OR I will need to go get me one If it hatches, it would be next weekend. Cross fingers! When are yours due to hatch>?

Cynthia, Yay on Red's eggs! I have had ducks too, they are M_E_S_S_Y! They poop about every three steps and it goes "pa-ching! "--wet. I will not go down that road again...I was thinking in the coop I would not be able to keep up with the poo. Joybells I hope they work out better for you than they did for me Mimi--I got mine when they were big, never had them in a brooder.
