Utah!

lol lisa i have been wearing flip flops all winter, but then i am a little crazy so.... red i am sorry about the bad news :( moriah that is cool your husband works at the hatchery! i am a big time fisherman so tell him thank you for working to keep the waters well stocked for us :)

Thanks bird-man. He enjoys the sport fish - he hatched Tiger Muskie last year, the first time it had been successful in Utah. He's working with several endangered species at Wahweap also. If you get to Lake Powell to fish, check out WaynesWords.com. Wayne is the biologist for Lake Powell and writes a fishing report on his blog.

No, I got a chick, just a little chick I didn't think I would buy from there. I thought about buying Serama eggs, but saw these there. Now, I am hoping that is what this little one is? I am pretty sure these bantams were straight run. Took a chance because the wings are so out there. Soo small! There were Silkie bantams, and cochin bantams. I almost got a cochin bantam, but decided this little one will do fine with my little bantam Faverolle. She will be in with her.

The silkies and the cochin bantams were huge next to her.

I am guessing these guys are probably around 5 days apart in age from her. There is
Reds' baby on the left. My miracle baby on the right of her, the black is an OE I kept
and now think it's looking like a boy, and an EE that reminds me of my very first EE I
had.

One more..she likes being under the bigger chicks.

WOW she is small!!!

Red, glad you didn't have AC after you. I had a run in with them last week- two of our cows jumped the fence and had wandered into our front yard while I was volunteering my kids' school. Luckily, they were super nice and helpful. Helped me get them back into the field, said that since they'd never had a call on us before, they weren't going to cite us. Then we talked chickens because they both kept chickens. It was nice way to end a potentially horrible situation.

Oh, Doughie, that puppy is so cute!! We call those shoestrings.

Corvidae, I'm so glad you got two wellsummers out of that batch.

Lilwanis, I'm so sorry about your bad hatch. I hope you can figure out what caused the spike to prevent it next time.

Cynthia, that little chick is so cute!

I"m thinking maybe I'll hatch silkies with one of my school hatches. I do want a white silkie still.

Duplicate. Just learning Mobile.

Hey, at least you are learning. I think it would be great to have that.

Well, I guess I more than likely do not have a little Serama. The bantam folks say hatcheries usually don't carry them...so, I looked at the hatcheries, and my guess now is a black Japanese bantam..cute too.

Remember when I first got on here and we started chatting, I had a black tail buff jap that was broody a lot, you had a neighbor that had a black Japanese? I just remembered that, now you have one! They are very very very sweet. Our little bantam my DH picked up in SLC a few weeks ago is a japanese, but I cannot tell it it will be black tail buff or black tail white yet. I bet you will like it alot :)

I remember Lisa, I thought of yours once I thought Japanese. I am thinking that's about as small as the hatcheries will go, and they must be hardy to be ship them. I have heard they are really sweet. This one is already. That neighbor that had one, was Hector. :)
