maybe its a silver duck wing. I love bantams, you never know what your going to get. And they are very hardy!
Now I have to go look up duck wings! I love the silkies soo much. But I don't want a lot of broodys. Now, I remember something about Lisa saying broody..Japanese. Oh dear. Well, just these two for bantams. Sweet Pea, my Favorelle needed a small buddy. Small she is!
Oh boy, I'm hearing the egg song big time out there this morning. I think they are loving the warmer weather.
Was thinking about letting them out to free range yesterday, remembered I had heard a hawk the other day, didn't bother to look up, I know that sound, but decided to check out our friendly neighborhood Cooper's Hawk spot. Yep, there he was, up in the top of that neighbors tree, just watching and waiting for me to let my girls out.
This is going to be such a worry this year. Those hawks are so fast. I would say I won't let the younger pullets out, but it doesn't seem to matter what size when those things are hungry. One took down my friends golden laced W. last year. Full size hen. I'll have to be careful where I put treats. Hopefully under the apple trees will be more safe. Then again, my DH saw one..probably that very hawk, take off with a bird right out from under our front apple tree. He came in all worried and said, go check your chickens..isn't it wonderful how your better half comes around to your hobby, ..ahem..yes, hobby..anyway, we figured it was taking off with a dove, we had them under the apple tree a lot last year.
Looking up Duck Wings.

Ok, thinking not a duck wing. The babies have the chipmunk look to them. I didn't see any black ones. She will be fun to watch grow.
