Utah!

I think they're roosters. I've never seen a FBCM hen with copper on the chest, only boys. My FBCM hens are a little younger (ok, 4 weeks), but the difference in combs between yours and mine is striking.

The crack baby I posted pictures of is still alive. I facetimed on the phone with my friend this morning so I could watch it. It's reallllllly wiggling around in there. She set them under her broody on Sunday night, 3 weeks ago, so I expect if it's going to make it, it will hatch sometime in the next 24 hours. I sure hope it makes it.

Question Hatchers: Do eggs with floating detached air cells ever hatch? Those wheaten ameraucana eggs I got shipped are doing bad, there are just a few developing, and all have free floating air cells that float to the top when I turn them. So no matter what position for lockdown, they are going to have air cells straight up. Any advice?? I feel like the poor little squiggly babies are doomed, and there is nothing I can do, I almost hate to keep them going.

(Hi Sasha! hugs!)

If they've started, I would keep them! I never have, but I have just been reading recently, that some of those with that going on hatch! I never knew, or I would have put them in the bator..I always got rid of them right away, so I never knew that they could hatch. Good luck.

HI Joybells! We're so happy you love the duck-ducks. :) Their eggs are still a little small because they've only been laying a couple months, but they will start to get larger, shortly. :)
I adore them! Duck eggs are so tasty, I love poaching them for breakfast and had the most delicious cake on the 5th. I never want to go back to just chicken eggs. haha ;)
And they've been so productive! I've been getting eggs every single day since the morning I got them. It's been a constant pattern of 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, up until this morning were it went 1, 2, 1, 2, 2. With that extra egg this morning, I'm going to make another cake! ;)

K Guys...Tell me what you think...I have 2 with the smaller combs and one with the Bigger points. Do I have 2 hens or do ya think they are all roosters still?

These look girly to me. The ones I had a couple of years ago had the red on the necks. Very pretty. Here's a link to the big thread..note the coloring in those necks on the first and second page.

Has anyone responded to the add on KSL advertising they take roosters for a local farm? I wondered if they do put them on a farm or slaughter them? I thought the add was fishy because they say they take the roosters to a local farm so they can get fertile eggs. How many do they need for that and we all know Roosters fight. I just wanted to know what everyone else thought

Hey Lisa..this is what I was talking about when it came to me getting OE eggs last year. Same as you trying for that blue egg. Well, this lady advertised her eggs as..rare dark Olive Eggers..hmmm? Here they are..

I think I see a few first generation ones in there..the others are a pretty>>>>blue!

Now, this lady had advertised Easter Eggers. I had written her before the bidding was
done to see if she could mail out Wed. She didn't sell her eggs, so she is the one I
was saying was offering throwing in OE's and a choice of two other breeds, I picked the
LF Cochin, she says she has splash..that's what I want. We'll see. Look at those OE's!
My goodness, there are three there that are a brown! When I picked the first one up
I thought, Oh, is this one ok? Yep, just the color. There are some very very pretty
Olive colored ones in there! Love these eggs! All for the hatch a long..whoot!

These are Blue Barred Rock, and then of course, Welsummers

You make me laugh. Remember when last fall you sold all your incubators so you didn't spend so much money on eggs. You have the bug and there is no cure. Very pretty olive eggs

Mine all have red like that too around the neck and a little on the chest....my hens. The second one looks like a girlie to me. But seriously guessing here, it is hard to tell without seeing the whole body and also with flash on the combs...Blue you might have to start looking for saddle feathers to settle this for sure :p Those have been tough to tell!
