Utah!

Casa, they both have three rows and are very pink. Considering they are only six/seven weeks...I am not encouraged :/ they have a home here until they are big enough to eat or prove themselves female :gig I looked really close at the houdans and even though the one has a different crest, they all still have non existent combs that are yellowish. They are approaching nine weeks now so I am guessing we are safe with them :D They are all free ranging today for the first time. Out with the big girls who don't choose to acknowledge their presence.

Mine is really pink too, hoping it is not a boy too.! Crossies ;) Glad the houdans are lookiing girly!
Glad they are staying low profile to the big girls. I have mine (the houdans and the sbel) out in the run/coop and so far no drama. I think my big girls are just getting so used to a random chick thrown in there every few days they do not know who is who anymore.

Michelle thanks for the info, will get to googling oxine :)

Sundancenbare e-mailed me today while I was at work...I had a nice surprise when I checked my e-mail! She told me to come get her Seramas...for a steal. So...I jumped in my car and drove down to take them off her hands and relieve a little bit of pressure on poor Diana.
I put a hen, the white roo and the hen's 2 chicks in one box together. When I got them home and opened that box....this is what I found...

The rooster was sheltering/warming the chicks! It was the sweetest sight! I'm totally in love with this rooster now.

Lisa, Pawtrait, thank you! Sounds like I have some stuff to get for my girl. When I checked on her tonight, her breathing was a bit better. I can tell she still doesn't feel good, but it's reassuring. I'll continue to give her the vitamin/electrolyte solution for a few days, anyway. And, I think it wouldn't hurt to put a little in everyone else's water, just to be safe.

Sasha, that is so sweet! Looks like he is a good rooster. My EE roo was good around chicks, too. He would flare out and safeguard them whenever I was near (since I was never around enough for him to really recognize me) He'd also find food and call them over, then show them how to eat

Oh, by the way, Sundance, you can rest assured that I will be deep cleaning this carrier before I bring it back to you. I would feel horrible if I inadvertently transferred a sickness to your house. It's going to get the royal inspection!

Oh Red, I'm sorry you're dealing with illness. I hope you get it cleared up soon.

Sasha, that roo is so sweet! My heart melted when I saw that photo.

Today I threw a birthday party for my youngest two kids. I had over 20 kids at my house. All of the, have seen my chicks hatch through school and they were so excited to see my setup. It was a crazy day, but the kids had a great day I think.

I think having the broody twin sister with her babies made my bantam frizzle ashamed. She FINALLY started laying yesterday. Also, I got 8 eggs today, which is huge. Not sure if it was the nice weather, showing odd for the kids, or all the treats they got from the kids, but it was great to get a decent amount of eggs. My girls have been such deadbeats.

Hello all, I am new to this forum but I've had an acct w/BYC for about 3 years now!!!! Lets see... we live in Lehi and have been trying to establish a good flock but everything that can go wrong has =( Our first try with a few chickens and 2 turkys ended up food for an agressive dog we had to put down b/c he started to bite ppl. Last yea 2 years agowas so far our best year. We got thembig enough to get eggs from them but in Oct of that year we made a trip out to Cali and while we were there our new next door neighbor's dog ate almost our entire flock!!!!! Last year we tried again but me andthe hubby where going through some stuff and had to rehome them to our across-the-street neighbor so we did still get to see themgrow up. Well we dcided to try again this year wedecided to keep it small just 5 chicks. Well 5 ended up being 9 lo. We got them pretty early in March and had them out in the coop by last weekend. They did great they where happy they where growing and getting beautiful. Then a racoon got to them and left us with 4 =( Or at least we think it was a racoon since we didnt see any bodies the chicks where just missing and there where feathers every where!!! I was so mad!!! Well we go toThanksgiving Farm today and they had chicks for sale and free roosters. We got 5 new chicks and one free rooster that where about the age of our original chicks so we put them with our chicks. They kept their distance from each other since our coop is pretty big. We fixed thefaults in our coop to keep the racoon out but it was all for not =( we kept going out there to check thembut the last time we went out there was only 2 chicks left!!!!!!!! I am livid!!!!!! Only one chick from our original heard is alive and one new chick we got today a cochin. We have 6 other baby chicks in our garage under a heat lamp untill they are old enough to go outso we put the remaining 2 chicks in there in another container untill we can trap the racoon. Uh!!!!! I am still sooooooooo mad!!!!!! Imsorry about the essay I just needed to get this off my chest. We will also be reinforcing our coop so our babies can live!!!

Also we are looking for a Turken roo if anyone is looking to sell or rehome. We are hopeing for a really young one to grow up with our young chicks since the free roo wegot today was one of our casualties ='( Thanks for reading my book I hope everyone had a great weekend!!!!

ATTENTION my chicken friends! My house is off-limits for the next week or so, and with the exception of putting myself through a stringent deep cleaning to go to Chickenstock next week, I will not be visiting anyone, either. One of my broodies has a terrible respiratory thing going on. It almost sounds like asthma, in a weird way. I don't want this spreading to anyone else's birds. I've started giving her very mild amounts of infant vitamins in her water, along with a tiny pinch of electrolytes, so we'll see if she improves in that time.

come get some denegard

I may have a roo for you, I have 4 turken chicks growing out and a box of babies arriving tomorrow with 8 turken chicks, there is always a good chance the gender is backwards so I will keep your name if one turns out to be a boy for sure :)
