Utah!

I'm getting ready to make corn on the cob, can the chickens eat the husks if I through them outside to them, and can they eat any of the left over corn on the cob after it is cooked, of course with nothing on it. And I'm cutting up a watermelon, do they eat the green parts? I thought about leaving some water melon on it for them, but also letting them have the green part too.
I give my chickens corn on the cob all the time. And as far as watermelon, all that's going to be left is the skin. I sometimes hit up the fruit stands during the summer for the melons that are over ripe and getting thrown out. I take them home and freeze them and give them to the chickens the next day. Another favorite at my house is ripe apricots that fall out of the trees. I use to hate apricot season but know i now longer have to rake them up.

That's a good idea. I gave them the ends of the watermelon with tons left on it, and they are all avoiding it like the plague. Silly babies. You think they would be excited to see something new since they are always stuck in the run. I did accomplish my gate today, so tomorrow they will be left out, unless its raining. I need to run some wire along the chainlink for my little flower, I already know she can go right though it. But even if she did get out, she would be on the side yard which is fully fenced in, and one of these days they will have that area anyways. We just need to clean out a bunch of crap from our never ending construction going on at our house that I don't want them to get into.

I also cut out a door in a shipping crate that I got for free. So tomorrow its going inside the grow out pen, and the Silkies, the FBCM and my barnyard mix are going outside, unless its raining. I figured on the nice days they can go outside in it, and I will just bring them back inside at night. I'm going to put the pen in the middle of the free range area, so the 7 week old chicks can get used to the 4 week olds. Hoping after a few weeks of that, they will all be good with each others. :D

My flock got a bunch of melon rinds and corn cobs tonight. They love the corn and watermelon, but are still figuring out if they like the cantaloupe and honeydew. I think it just takes them time to figure out that they are treats.

I was laughing at my three teenager chicks. They're around two months old, and they've never seen a watermelon rind. I put one in the garag in their area, and they all jumped back like it was a snake. Whenever I would move it with my finger or the little roo would dart in for a taste, my little Delaware pullet would make a noise like, "NO, don't do it! Ahhhh!!"

I let my Icelandics mingle with the rest of the flock today. The little turds aren't even laying. I know that they're all going to start laying like crazy, now that they're not separate

Donna..so sorry about your kitty..waiting for an update. :(

Had a scary thing happen today. Maybe some of you have had this happen? I received a fraudulent call from my bank, saying there has been some suspicious spending on my card. They gave me a number to call back. I had gotten a call like this before, but because I had spent differently. They go by how you usually spend. I don't spend in stores. I use it for computer use only..last time I spent in a store was around Christmas.
Well, she started naming off the amount spent..today! 100 dollars. NO! 50 dollars. NO! So, I am to shred my card, and I have a new one coming. I am so glad they caught it. They said there was a 1 cent on there yesterday. Hello? Then spending today. Little thieves check to see if your card is active. Well, they declined the amounts spent today. It just didn't look right to them. I'm with Chase. So glad they caught that. I can't believe people.

Very disappointing.

Not long ago I had a text stating my debit card has been cancelled, and to call a certain number to reopen it. I went straight to my bank and it was a phishing scheme to get my info. These crooks are so sneaky!!! I'm with Wells Fargo and they claimed they had many people having the same thing happen.

Oh dear..I best call my credit card..but they did tell me to shred my card. Think I'll give them a call right now...thanks. It's a thought for sure.

Ok, just called...yes, it was them...I will get a new card on Wed. Whew.

I have some--a few BLRW Blacks and some cream legbars. We've kind of lost heart lately and I'm seriously thinking about downsizing even more. Thinking about getting rid of the remaining Isbars as well.

I won't be totally chickenless....We are selling the house and goats and most of the chickens...Hopefully we will end up somewhere where we can keep a few...I would like to keep my silky, the young wheaten ameraucana and sparkles junior, plus a couple of the OE I hatched....I still have one FBCM who is broody and we are trying to decide if we want to keep her...
My Cuckoo maran just started laying again...so she has a reprieve for now.

I didn't know you were moving!! Good luck with all that and hope you find good homes for your birds!!

Thanks to Lisa, Sphinx and whoever else with the chickentrain, especially anyone who helps get the chicks to Joy, that is awesome!!

Sorry about your cat corvidae... that is so sad..
