I don't add milk...lol. Yes, I also give them hard boiled with the shells crushed up and the hard boiled eggs chopped (this way they don't recognize the eggs and start breaking the ones they lay). They have been getting eggs daily due to the quantity of eggs I get right now. They get an omelet with crushed shells and any leftover veggies and fruit scraps from the kitchen, chopped up.If you end up with a mix, I have to see them.
I'm going to have to scramble up some eggs, do you add milk to them, and can I give them hard boiled? I have a few that are hard boiled now. Good to know since one of these days I well be getting eggs. How often do you give them eggs?
I've always wanted a magpie too, and the other day found one that I knew would end up as dinner for the cats. Unfortunately, my skills at raising wild birds are limited. I've raised baby doves who have fallen from trees but this baby magpie, although I fed it as I did wild baby birds, seemed to not thrive. Maybe that's why the parents kicked it from the nest. Sad dayI rescued a baby magpie from the neighborhood kids just now. They were trying to rescue it. So far, they had given it a bath, tried to find worms for it, and brought it on a stick into my yard. I sent them back to the school parking lot, away from my birds. I called the local wildlife rehabilitation and was told that they go through a phase when they are learning to fly/ leaving the nest. Went back, educate well meaning, sweet kids, returned it to the ground by its tree, and shooed the kids away from the area. I kept thinking, "I've always wanted a pet magpie." I was strong and left it to its parents.

** Like when I wake up in the morning and look out in my run at how many more chickens I have than the "8 max" I told myself two years ago?***
HahahaKyle you are amongst good company here!![]()
Both males and females will do the "neck fighting" thing. Females will puff up and strut just like males when trying to establish dominance, too. Look at the snood. By 3 months old you should see a difference.Yeah mine was 4 max, and that was a few months ago, I feel better that i'm not the only one ha ha ha.
I am getting really excited though, My Ameraucana was laying fertile eggs a while after i bought her, so incubated that with some Barnevelder eggs, and they go into lockdown tomorrow evening. Everything looks to be in great shape, here's hoping i have a good hatch![]()
On a side note, i have some turkeys that are about 3 months old. I think 1 is a hen and I know for sure the other is a tom. The tom has just now started to get very aggressive with the one i believe is a hen, is this normal? I see them wrapping up necks and they seem to be fighting, but then the "hen" will lay down. They couldn't possibly be wanting to mate at this age right? I know kind of a dumb question. I've never owned turkeys, this is my first run.
