Corvidae, glad to hear your cat is doing better :)
Where abouts is this land you speak of? I wouldn't mind an adventure. I've been cooped up at home for far too long. I would really like a couple welssummers and maybe 2 legbars if Desert isn't interested in all of them. My mom would like a couple BLRW. These gals will be completely free range she has a load of little black spider in her lawn they are going to love.

Corvidae, I want some of your younger pullets. The two BLRW Chicks i got from you are looking kind of Rooish but then i really don't know. They both turned out with single combs. I would like 1 of each breed if they are still available.

On another note my Silkies are laying again if anyone is looking for eggs. I added one of my Buff Silkies to the group, but i can tell the difference in the eggs. The buff is not bearded and has a smaller dome. They lay 3-4 eggs a week each. I have about a four week time frame to gather eggs. The last two weeks i keep the eggs for myself, after that the go broody. If any one would like some eggs pm me. I also have some Bantam chicks up for grabs. 1-blue silkie roo, 1-BSL roo (his barring is coming in really good), 2-RIR/Australorp mix, (both looking like pullets) These are all 6 weeks old.

So I got some chicks from sunnybrookfarms and on the way home I noticed they were sneezing and have a runny nose. Has anyone else had chicks from that place that were sick? And what's the best stuff to use on chicks/chickens to get rid of the sneezing? Really new at this and don't want to see any of my chickens suffer. I'm just worried that all my other chickens will get it, even though the sick ones are quarantined. Any help would be MUCH appreciated:)

Corvidae, my heart goes out to you and your situation

Hang in there. You are wonderful and all of us chicken nuts are glad you're here and that you're our friend!

Brian, try giving them some vitamins in their water. You'll want to use something like the Sav-a-chick from the feed store, or else get some Polyvisol (infant vitamins without the iron) and mix just a bit into the water. If they don't improve in a couple of days, you could try Denegard. If you need some, let me know. I'm in West Valley but I have a little extra that you could take.

Rykel, congrats on the egg, but sorry you lost some babies

I am paranoid about dogs now when I have any of my chickens in the yard, no matter their age.

Sara, my BO looks like that right now. She started losing feathers from too much attention from the boys, but now I think the other hens pick at her. My mom is going to make a smaller apron for her, since she's a little girl. Today, we slathered aloe vera all over her exposed skin. It seemed tender, but she enjoyed it. We are concerned about her.

Well, I don't remember if I mentioned this last night or not, but I was talking to the new neighbors and found out that one of my Icelandics, "Psycho" Summer, actually chased my neighbor the other day

She's all 1.5 lbs of fury, that one. And my neighbor also told me an interesting story. I guess when they were moving in on Saturday, they left the door open for a few hours while moving things inside the house. Weeeell, at one point my neighbor turned around, and there was one of my chickens standing in her front room.

I just shut my eyes and asked, "Was it the black and white striped one?"

Yes, it was. That would be my BR/Dominique mix, Dottie. She has ventured into our kitchen before. I guess she really doesn't care whose house it is, so long as she gets to visit.

Other than that, I got some work done on the pens out back. I pulled the sagging boards off of our run, flipped them over, and then put roofing material over them to keep the wet out. I started to work on my smaller run, too, but I ran out of nails in the nail gun. How d'ya like that? Phoo..............And I had to chase the turkey poults out of the neighbor's yard and through our wooden fence. Little squirts had gotten themselves stuck over there and the hen was freaking out.

Brian, you need to come and get some of my Denagard..I forgot to offer that to you when we talked today. Only takes one T. per gallon..I use an empty milk carton to mix it. They usually don't like the taste. I put a looooot of sugar in there with it. You may want to treat all of your others for one day, but treat the ones that are sneezing for a good three days. Don't have any other water available to them so they will drink it. :p Here is a post of where you can buy it..only on the net..pricy but great stuff. There is no waiting period on eating the eggs. With other things as anti biotics..you have to wait until up to three weeks before you can eat the eggs. Now, there are some that would say..phffff! The old timers treat their birds with that stuff and eat the eggs. But, what is important is, to know if you are allergic to any type of Penicillin. It gets into the eggs..I'm allergic!

This stuff keeps, and lasts a long time. I treat my girls twice a year for prevention. This last little episode I had with the Houdan scared me pretty good. I am thinking, that it started with a change in bedding. I don't think it handled the new dust. Then it got more sick after it started from that. None of my chickens got sick. ? They got treated anyway. So, the spring treatment got done. :) Let me know if you want some.
