Sara, my BO looks like that right now. She started losing feathers from too much attention from the boys, but now I think the other hens pick at her. My mom is going to make a smaller apron for her, since she's a little girl. Today, we slathered aloe vera all over her exposed skin. It seemed tender, but she enjoyed it. We are concerned about her.
Well, I don't remember if I mentioned this last night or not, but I was talking to the new neighbors and found out that one of my Icelandics, "Psycho" Summer, actually chased my neighbor the other day
She's all 1.5 lbs of fury, that one. And my neighbor also told me an interesting story. I guess when they were moving in on Saturday, they left the door open for a few hours while moving things inside the house. Weeeell, at one point my neighbor turned around, and there was one of my chickens standing in her front room.
I just shut my eyes and asked, "Was it the black and white striped one?"
Yes, it was. That would be my BR/Dominique mix, Dottie. She has ventured into our kitchen before. I guess she really doesn't care whose house it is, so long as she gets to visit.
Other than that, I got some work done on the pens out back. I pulled the sagging boards off of our run, flipped them over, and then put roofing material over them to keep the wet out. I started to work on my smaller run, too, but I ran out of nails in the nail gun. How d'ya like that? Phoo..............And I had to chase the turkey poults out of the neighbor's yard and through our wooden fence. Little squirts had gotten themselves stuck over there and the hen was freaking out.
