They are so cute. I don't need anymore....wish I had the space. I love my NN that I got from Casa, she is so fun. I will have to take some updated photo's of the babies. One of the RIR is getting tons of black barring on the wings. My 2 girls out side are just solid red, so that surprised me. I'm going to put them outside tomorrow in the grow out pen since I kicked the other out. Everyone has gotten along the last 2 days, so I feel they are safe as one whole group, so the babies can now go outside. Its so funny, they all stay in their little groups. Will be sad when the neighbor comes and gets hers, the groups will all be broken, but they can see each other through the fence. LOL

I have five boys that I am willing to give away. I think I am going to keep one of them, but can definitely be persuaded to part with them all. the wheaten ameraucana boys are sweet so far, i am tempted to keep one of the two. I am waiting on a drill plucker and kill cone to process them. I have ten birchen marans boys. I have spent too much to give them away. I will sell them or eat them. I have a bresse boy too. He will be dinner as he has a major fault (feathered shanks), that I won't breed forward. Means I need a boy, if you can believe that!
That would be great!blet me get a hold of my brother to see what he says. I love him but he is kind of a flake lol.
Yep, the video is exactly how it happens!!! First came a couple chickens (yum, farm fresh eggs) , then a few goats (which I thought we'd use for weed control and cheese/milk. They are now breeding and multiplying too.).... then came honey bees (fresh honey to go on toast with those morning eggs), then more chickens and my interest in opening a hatchery business. Now, if I ever find the time, I have envisioned in making my own soaps with the honey and goat's milk. I'm sure we would be drinking goat's milk if my husband would allow it.... he was raised on it and claims it brings back bad memories. We already have horses and I've said many a time that I need to teach them to 'work', so I can rip up the acreage we have to the north of us. Yep, for cows and more chicken coops and runs. LOL... I only planned on getting a couple egg layers... that was two years ago.

If I had more space and more animal right I would have a farm. I've always wanted one. *Sigh* My DH keeps telling me he is going to bring home a couple of goats, you know, to keep the weeds down right? He hasn't done so yet. Maybe he's noticed what bringing home those chickens did to me over the last year. (I wanted very little to do with them at first. Now I get a little sad if I don't get to watch my evening edition of chicken t.v. We did raise 3 cows last year at grandma's, they were so cute!

Thought I had a picture of the cows but just had one of my monsters with giant bottles. Lol. Cynthia, I'm itching for that cute lil OE, do you think my broody will still care for it or is it too big? (Also depends in where abouts you are :) )

Christina--my broody looks BAD too, she did come off the nest this afternoon, and has been in the run ever since. So crossing my fingers she will stay out of that house for awhile. Her comb looked slightly (really slightly) improved tonight. Crossies. I am absolutely shocked she has made it this far. It has been so hot in there. I took her out for a bit this morning and blocked the doorway and she screamed and screamed and would not stop until I opened the door. She was so determined!

I sure hope yours makes it through? Which breed is yours? Mine is my best FBCM. Ugh.

Lisa, I really hope yours makes it too!!!

Mine is a GLW. Only had three of them to start... they are my official egg layers. Never planned on finding them a roo. All three have always been so sweet and this one is still hanging in there. Tonight, when I went out to check on her I almost hoped she had passed

, she is so thin, but nope, there she was, sitting next to her food and water, looking up at me as I came through the door. She seemed a little better tonight. Her comb is still grayish and shriveled but she looks more alert. I have been giving her vitamins in her mixture of scrambled egg and a special mixture I've made from some older food storage items (dried egg, textured protein and fruit nuggets... she refuses to eat any grain or pellets). Each time I visit her I make her drink some water and I check her weight. Thinking tomorrow I'll start some physical therapy on her... she hasn't moved much and with the weight loss her leg muscle might have started to atrophy. Poor girl!! It's just so sad!!

Too funny! We keep toying with the idea of goats, pigs, and a cow for meat. Sphinx got one last year and it really tempted me..oh man if we had more room I would be in trouble, the only thing that keeps me from doing it is that I cannot choose which one, if I could have them all I would be in trouble for sure haha!

I know that if I ever get on top of all my projects and am able to get the other property done and in pasture, my first choice for a cow is the Dutch Belted, also known as Oreos and various other names. Their fat content is low, protein is high, the muscle length is short thus ensuring tender meat and they are a heavy milker, for milk or calving. Started researching them about 4 years ago and suddenly I see them everywhere...lol.

Adorable pic!!! Boy, I remember those days...lol. Years ago, when I lived in Idaho I raised 8 bottle calves at a time. Whew!! Great times!!

I'm in Spanish Fork, thinking your mama wouldn't accept a new baby though.

EVERYONE IS OUTSIDE!
celebrate.gif
I've had chicks in the house since the 2nd week of March, and now everyone is finally all outside. I just put the last batch of littles outside in the grow out pen since the 8 week olds are doing great with the 13 week olds. I'm so dang happy everyone is finally outside. Well I should say the littles will be coming in at night, I don't feel my little grow out pen with coop is raccoon safe. But that is fine with me, they can come in at night.

The big girls, just looked at me this morning like What the Heck mom, you got more little ones. My one Blue EE just sat there staring at the new babies for like 5 minutes, she had like the death stare on them. No one dared move. Well 4-6 weeks of them outside in the grow out run, they should all get along, well only 2 of the 6 that are even in the grow out pen are even mine, there 2 EE, and 2 RIR that are my neighbors, and then I have my 2 BRLW out there too. Hopefully both girls.
