Utah!

Such cute/handsome chickens!

Blujems who is that little cutie? I love the attitude in the second picture, reminds me of my daughter.

Ya that's our little one 8 going on 18.

Brian when your done setting up her island in Chicken Paradise, you can come over here and build me another chicken coop.  For some reason I feel like a need a really huge 10 ft by 10 ft walk in coop.  My husband said I have too much time to just sit and think about chickens.  I just need a farm!

When did you want to come get your girls?  Or did you need me to babysit them all until you move, I'm thinking of through your 2 here outside this weekend, so I guess if you want to bring the other 5 here to go outside with them till you move next week.  Let me know.
I could come help out:) bigger is always better! Would you mind keeping the girls there until I get moved into my house?

No that is fine, bring them over. I still have the others in the house, but I was thinking of putting them outside in the grow out pen. I just wanted to wait till the little Leghorn and BLRW that I got from Cynthia got a little older. But its so hot I'm sure they will be fine. And I still have the two 5 week olds out there, so I guess the more going in with those 2, the less they will probably pick on the 3 week olds. I'm sure they will be just fine, there is plenty of space in that grow out run. I bet the 2 other there will be happy with more friends. The RIR every morning talks to the older hens, like come be with me, she's cute.

Yay! Will have to keep an eye on her FB. Hope all goes well! I saw she was in the hosp a week or so ago with a false alarm....hope they don't send her back home again. Poor girl!

Sara---Blujems little girl is nicknamed "The Monster" lol. She is as sweet as can be, with a little spice thrown in

Very fun little gal. Cute picture of yours! She looks like lots of fun.

Cynthia how are your SG eggs doing? My NN/SG mix eggs were at 108 this morning. Put them in the "spare" not so favorite forced air bator, after debating whether I should dump them (I worry about deformities and they are still just little bean sized blips)...but wriggling blips, I could not bring myself to do it. I guess we will see what happens, I have been collecting more in case something bad happened so I set some more tonight, along with some more quail eggs. I had 25 quail eggs and 12 chicken eggs in the hot bator, DANG! I don't know why it spiked...it seemed to be stuck. Don't know how long it was hot for. Not holding my breath on those eggs, I was beating myself up all day over it but there is no way I could have known so I am trying to let go of the sick feeling I have had in the pit of my stomach. Ugh. Hope you are having better luck than I am!

Gary your birds are stunning! Thanks for sharing those pics

Oh Casa, so sorry about the spike

. Hopefully it was only that high for a few moments!!

The Monster is adorable!!!!

Lisa, Brandi has a scheduled C-section on the 29th..Monday. Poor thing, she goes into labor, but doesn't dilate. They are keeping a watch on how the baby is handling this labor. She went in on the 24th with some good pain, but, they sent her home...with pain killers! What? Drs. do not like doing anything on holidays. :( She was 7 to 10 mins apart..and still doing that yesterday. She finally called again and told them they were still going on. They told her that she probably should come in, because having them that often may not be good for the baby. ?? Ya think? I was ready to call up a dr. myself. :/

I just sent a message to the gal that I got my SG eggs from. We've been talking since I got them, because there were air bubbles, and water floating at the top. She had said she would send me more if I didn't get some viable ones. Candled today. Only two, maybe three are viable. I saw two little eyeballs moving around, on the third I could see what I thought was veining. So, messaged her that I would take more. Her girls have slowed down, but she thinks once the heat goes, they will pick up. She was going to put a black in with the whites..unless that was a problem with me..I said..oh..I have been wanting whites! So, hopefully she remembered that. I know she will write back and let me know what's up. She offered them to me for the cost of shipping.
I hope that your babies do fine. Maybe your heat wasn't up as high as it read. Did they feel like they were cooking? Which bator..sitll, or air? In the still, it wouldn't be as bad. Good luck. I know what you mean about deformities. The strangest thing has happened this year with a couple of mine. Even the LF chicks. I've had two that I say..look like Aliens. Flat heads, and bulging eyes. Kind of creepy. :/ One was a LF Favorelle baby. I lucked out and got me a girl though. :)

Anyone interested in an Ameraucana Silkie mix..or an OE? The OE has dropped a couple of those first time eggs..soft shelled..so she is really close to laying. I am keeping another OE that is close to the same age, and have two others coming up. So, thinning out. This OE is a nice bird, not mean to the others, she does come around when I am giving treats, will eat out of my hand, but stays clear if I am just walking around the yard. The Silkie mix is adorable. Won't get huge, won't be small like a silkie. She eats out of my hands too. Her name is Angel. :) She came from a very, very, blue egg from Sundance. I mean blue! Should be laying in about a month.

The OE. Yes, she is trying to fake us out with a stick up feather, but she's a she.
She is the one that has dropped a couple of starter eggs this past week.

$10 each. Asking 15 for the OE on ksl..but for friends here..a little less. :) She's going
to be laying soon. Both actually. But of course the OE first. Oh ~ the OE is named
Silly Sally, or just Sally. You had to know that!

Poor Brandi! Hope she can hang in there a few more days.

My eggs had a few wriggling still this morning. Hoping for the best, expecting the worst. Dang it. It was my still air, usually works great, still no idea what happened. One of my kids maybe? If they messed with it, it would have been the night before, not good.

My NN are doing so good--my first one has been laying about a month, has laid 19 eggs in 20 days now , every morning at 9 am. Nice eggs. The second one started 5 days ago, has laid every day so far. a few doubles! Wow i have been really surprised at how good they lay. Is this just dumb luck or are they supposed to lay like that? Giving my stinker GSL's a run for their money, I might just have to quit on those, they are always mean. NN's are sweet so far. And BIG! Biggest chickens I have out there. Started laying at 20 and 21 weeks....light tan egg. They are on my happy list. My GSL's...not so much.

I just hate the deformities!!! All that time waiting and then to have something actual hatch that is abnormal.... so sad!!! I've had a couple too.... one had it's poor little brain on the outside and it's bottom beak was super long and the top one almost non-existent except for the sharp horn (still don't know how it actually made its way out of the shell). It passed shortly after emerging from the shell. Another one had a twisted face. EEEKKK!!!

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who has had 'aliens' hatch.

Casa I'm so jealous your NN's are laying. The one I got from you is what almost 5 months old? I have to be doing something wrong with her. And I have to agree with you, she is a tank, she is huge. And is my biggest chicken too. Maybe I need to go dig through the Ivy on the side yard, she's always in there during the hot part of the day, unless I kick them out, and push them up into the shade and close the gate.

Well....one of the new girls finally laid yesterday.

I'm certain it was one of the Wheatens......tiny green egg no bigger than a quail egg.

Pretty sure the Houdan ain't gonna have one like that!
