Utah!

Desert, before I forget, I may have a present running around in my back yard for you. I have been watching my little Delaware "pullet", and she has a lot more barring than I'd expect from a girl. It could just be poor hatchery quality, but I dunno. Her face is already hot pink, even if the comb is small. Her friend the BSL, who is the same age, is only just going a light shade of pink. If my Delaware turns out to be a boy, you are more than welcome to her! And if she is indeed a girl, I'm gonna have one huge, boyish hen out there, judging by the size of her feet.

that's a great idea! I will help set it up for you

oh red you make me kaugh and it hurts. Are you volunteering for the fan? I am going to share this with Ed as we have everything listed. He'll probably want oi kill you hahaha. I went outside this morning and let the chickens out. I had kept them locked up and a friend was coming to mow the lawn and I worried about the babies not being seen. They were very put out with me. Pretty much said whats up with this? They ran past me out to the grass, The mom with the babies walked slowly out with the babies behind her. Funny thing. Chucky the partridge followed behind herding the the babies. He is so cute with all the babies and it amazes me how tolerent the moms are with him. they chase the other hens away but tolerate the partridge who is devoted to all the babies.

Haha nahhh, Ed loves me

Or at least, he used to before I suggested this

I would have made a witty remark about the fan thing, but I don't want you hurting if you laugh again.

Casa I'm so jealous your NN's are laying. The one I got from you is what almost 5 months old? I have to be doing something wrong with her. And I have to agree with you, she is a tank, she is huge. And is my biggest chicken too. Maybe I need to go dig through the Ivy on the side yard, she's always in there during the hot part of the day, unless I kick them out, and push them up into the shade and close the gate.

My girls love to hide eggs from me in our ivy. It's dark and cool and I honestly think my Leghorn gets a good laugh out of seeing the dumb human climb through all of those vines for eggs.

I'm excited to have those girls! They always catch my eye when I'm over at your place Cynthia. I am only getting chickens from a few people on here, I want to do it right and don't want anymore sick chickens. I know you all take great care of your flocks.

Desert, ill let you knkw when im all moved in and ready to buy some of your chicks from you. It should be no longer then a week after the first.

It's nice to have connections with so many people who take good care of their birds, isn't it?

The two you are getting from Cynthia look sooooo pretty!

She was so cute. She drew me the cutest picture....and I have to say I love it when she addresses me as "The Crazy Chicken Lady." Haha

Just saw this. she was so excited and has told me all day how much she loves her "Chicken Lisa".
She disappeared on me this morning and I found her in the coop talking to the chickens and giving treats.

My eggs i got from Sphinx are hatching! 3 out of twelve so far. 2 more peeping. They are all mixed breed. I don't have a separate house for her so I'm thinking i might just leave her with the rest of the flock. I am going to change the straw on the floor of the coop tomorrow so she can nest there with her chicks. She is an Australorp with an attitude and higher up on the pecking order so i think she will be OK. Ill try and get pictures tomorrow after the hatching.

Poor Brandi! Hope she can hang in there a few more days.

My eggs had a few wriggling still this morning. Hoping for the best, expecting the worst. Dang it. It was my still air, usually works great, still no idea what happened. One of my kids maybe? If they messed with it, it would have been the night before, not good.

My NN are doing so good--my first one has been laying about a month, has laid 19 eggs in 20 days now , every morning at 9 am. Nice eggs. The second one started 5 days ago, has laid every day so far. a few doubles! Wow i have been really surprised at how good they lay. Is this just dumb luck or are they supposed to lay like that? Giving my stinker GSL's a run for their money, I might just have to quit on those, they are always mean. NN's are sweet so far. And BIG! Biggest chickens I have out there. Started laying at 20 and 21 weeks....light tan egg. They are on my happy list. My GSL's...not so much.

I was told that NN are some of the best layers and they longer than normal hens. That is why they are so popular. They lay until age 5 or6

Thanks Red!! I finally found one out in S Jordan however, shortly after Chickenstock. He's about the same size as my pullets and was raised by a child so he fits in with the girls, who follow me and are under foot constantly!! Good memory though!!! I had searched for one for over three months

Anyone thinking of selling off a small easily moveable chicken coop thats not going to be millions of dollars. I'm thinking I want to get a small chicken coop that I can move around out in my front yard so I can put a few girls out there during the day. I have too many bugs. I called the city, and they said as long as they are in like a chicken tractor or coop similar, and not housed overnight in the front yard, I can put them out to eat my bugs.

Also I'm going to attempted to give my Houdan a haircut today. Never made it out there yesterday to do it. She's already outside crying and today I took her outside with the girls, but they all left her behind. What a sad life my Houdan has. LOL
