In December, in like the snow, and fridge temps. Seriously. I will have to bring a momma in the house. I would freak out with babies out there, even with a light and everything, Just so you know if that happens I'm coming to your house to pick up some eggs, your the closest to me that I know with a Rooster.
Seriously in the middle of the Winter. I just hope they are laying an egg by winter.
I have a bantam cochin hen, that started laying in December and went broody 2 weeks later, I let her sit on golf balls to see if she was serious, then put some real eggs under her just before lockdown, she hatched 3/4 eggs and turned out to be a great mom!! We did have to put her in the basement for a couple of weeks, it was right when it was subzero here, go figure.. but she has since been broody 2 more times this year, she's a great little momma=)
Speaking of which... anyone want a little mostly black bantam cochin cockerel?? Dad is Henry (he is mottled/calico) from Michelle and Mom is a black bantam cochin, they look like they will be mostly black... I have 2
Well, sold the Swedish Flower Hen pair, now I still have the Crested Dream Legbar trio... any takers?? I really need to post ya'll some pics.. I'm always on the wrong computer when I post on here, lol.. They are almost 5 months old, I'm asking $75 now, but would take a reasonable offer..
Although I live in Idaho, we have family in Utah and visit fairly often... send me a PM if you are interested...
I also have one more Swedish Flower Hen cockerel.. non-crested... really pretty with some blue feathers, 2 extra Crested Cream Legbar cockerels, and one French Black Copper Marans cockerel... they range in age from 2 months (Marans) to almost 4 months (SFH cockerel) as well as some started pullets, brown egg-layers, 3 months old, $8 for the pullets, $5 for the cockerels...
Lilwanis.... had to skip ahead and missed your post about not being able to have roosters, I am sooo sorry!! I know how much you've been looking forward to your breeding projects
Lisa.... CUTE puppy, oh, and guess what???? That Olive Egger pullet?? She is laying a chocolate egg!!! Go figure, my hen that lays a nice olive egg has a straight comb, and this girl has a nice pea comb, muffs and beard... goes to show you NEVER know, haha!
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.

AGAIN! This seems to be a pattern
Welcome eric801thelin! I do have Mottled Houdans, they are really pretty...crested like Polish--but I like their demeanor more, not as flighty. No hens for sale though. I put my first Houdan egg in the bator yesterday, I may have a few chicks in a few weeks if you want any fall babies
