Hey, guys,

I have been following you folks for a while but thought I would say HI and ask some questions. I picked up 14 acres down by Hurricane t build on. It is way the heck and gone from Hurricane. I almost have a BIG yurt finished to put on a deck while I figure out how to build a log cabin.........

Last year quite by chance I saw a ytube on the Chicken Caravan and I was hooked. Then I made the mistake of checking out Greenfire Farms web site. The result is that I am mad for the Ayam Cemani. They are the weird chicken from Indonesia that is black, all black including muscles and bones. I have been searching for them for quite a while now.

Welllllll all of this is complicated by the fact that I currently live in a condo in WVC. They do not allow chickens to breath in this area.

I've heard about the black chickens before but wasn't sure if they were real or an internet thing. That's cool. When do you think you'll get some? I would love to see pictures of them.

Just got back from the fair! My two boys both got 1st (in breed and there were not too many of these kinds lol)

BUT...my WCB Polish pullet got 1st in breed, Best in class and best LF overall. Yay! 2 trophies, I have never ever had a trophy before for anything. Pretty happy She sure did look pretty. The guy running the chickens said had she been just a bit older she would likely have done even better, and been a candidate for GC or Reserve GC. Her wattles were not quite ready yet. So maybe next yr we will try again? I cannot imagine her tail staying so nice for a whole year! That does not happen so much with all the chickens out there

Thanks guys! It was so funny, because (other than give a mean bubblebath) there was not much work to get that Polish--she was just a McMurray chick from my March 1 batch. After all the hatching and buying eggs and chicks from all over trying to get a SQ WCB female last year--...this one just fell into place. (Remember Auntie Hattie's avatar? That was the inspiration to get her!) My son is super happy about it, she is his baby He was wanting one of these so bad the last two seasons!

Everybody survive that wind ok? We had a lot of stuff blow over here. I had the Houdan girls in the small pen so I can re-check and treat one more time before they go back out...one of them blew right out of the pen through an opening in the cover I have on there..scared her half to death. And me!
