My Daughter's charter school does free breakfast, and the last few days my daughter has decided she wants to go to school for eat breakfast. They give these kids huge pieces of melons, strawberry/blackberry/blueberry/raspberry mix, banana's etc, and I would say more then 1/2 of them don't even touch the fruit and just dump it. So today, I brought a bucket and asked the lunch lady if I can take all the uneaten fruit. Of course she was like you can have all of it, do you have pigs, take the rest. hahah.

So I could have probably filled up 3-5 gallon buckets full of melon, strawberries and banana's today. I brought home almost a full bucket, and have it spread through out the yard. I don't even think they will make it to eating 1/2 of it, but I'm sure the wild birds will love the treat too.

Great pics everyone!!!!

Desert, that is so scary! I am so glad you were able to rescue that poor horse and that she's ok. I hope that you aren't injured after all of that. I'm so happy you hired someone. You need to take better care of yourself- if you don't, nobody will, and your animals NEED you healthy.

My broody has three gorgeous little FBCM under her. Two more yet to pip, but since day 21 doesn't start til tomorrow, I'm not worried. They have amazingly fuzzy legs. Mama was upset that I was poking around, so I wasn't able to get pictures.
LOL... my hired person put up three 2 X 4's in the time she was here.... she arrived at 9AM and left at 5PM. OMGosh!!

I'm going to have a heart attack!!!
Desert--Wow! What a feat! So glad you saw her, were able to wrangle her legs out, & that she remained calm enough to let you!
She is a sweetie and I'm quite used to rescuing her. She's the animal that always manages to get herself in trouble. Think she does it for attention 'cause she's so calm about it. Maybe that's why her former owner sold her. LOL

Yay Silly!!! I'm so glad you're FINALLY really getting eggs and that your NN is doing ok.

BluJems, that is so cute and funny that your dog is so confused.

I have FOUR cute FBCM. The last egg hasn't pipped, so I'm not sure if it will hatch or not. We'll see. Mama took the four babies outside. The one is only an hour or two old, so I'm not sure how it managed to get outside.
COngrats!!!!!

Hello everyone! I am still here. Been a little busy lately. I (finally) got a (temporary) job at the Moroni Processing Plant. Shhhh our little secret that I have chickens! Definitely not the job of my dreams but it pays and that's what counts right now. I also have cake orders coming out the ears. Wow.
I need to extend my apologies to Brian and Desert. I have been a terrible chicken person and owe you two. Desert please send me your address and Brian also please. I'm hoping I can come pick up my girls this weekend. I've just been so broke I couldn't even pay attention, I was embarrassed so I haven't contacted you two. Im sorry. I should have said something because I'm sure you would have understood but like I said, I was ashamed.
This job will last another couple of weeks, hopefully I'll find another quickly so I don't get all funky again.
It's good to "see" you all again.
No problem... sent you a PM!!

itsnot a big deal. Thats what we are here for. I sadly don't have the pullets anymore. There were huge issues and theu couldn't stay here. Sowwy. I recently got a silkie who came with a baby anf I must say its the cutest thing to watch her with the baby. I may never own an incubator because I'd much rather see the mom raise the babies. Once the baby gets weaned I'm hoping she will go broody again so I can have the joy of putting eggs under her and let nature take its course.

Trust me, it will happen, sooner than later, she's a silkie. :)) You need a cochin too. They go broody often too. Oh, and I know you need another silkie or SG. One that is frizzled would be fun. Or, just one that isn't. he he...

Lisa..is that little one crowing? If so, is it a tiny crow..or is it a real high pitched shreal sounding kind of thing going on. Some of those little ones can be real loud. I want sundances little guy, Brian says he doesn't make much sound, and he's gorgeous. If your little guy isn't very loud...maybe he hasn't started crowing yet? I want to try having a small one around. Only if it has a tiny crow..like you said, us girls can dream.

Not crowing yet, it is about 4-5 weeks old is all. It's comb and wattles popped right out and turned red so early, it surprised me! No guessing on this one. It sure is a sweet little thing. You can sure have him if you want to try and see how he does :) It seems like with the bantams, it is either really shrill or really tiny when they crow--at least with the ones I have had so far. Does it look like a Japanese to you? Not sure what else has those long wings....Serama? Do those have single combs? It is clean legged, we thought at first it was a banty Australorp or Wyandotte but it is getting that High tail and long dropped wings.

Next question for you guys...the other bantam we got, definitely has the big fluffy cochin feet, and was solid black, but it is getting white or silverish hackles around the neck. What would that be? A cochin still? What color is that called? Fat as can be too. Hope it is a girl.

when you hatch youe babies let me know because I want a shogirl so bad. I do have a cochin, its a silver laced bantam cochin. She is gonna be beautiful! I want to trade out some of my chickens for silkies, hudans and polish so if anyone has any let me know and ill gladly take them off your hands. I really want a small rooster too. Its hard finding one of the little seramas. I'm tempted to take that little rooster of yours lisa, he is pretty already! I miss my silkie mix rooster that I got from karen. He was the sweetest chicken I had and of course your favorite happens to turn into a rooster overnight lol. I was going to keep him because at first his crow wasn't loud but after a week he had the crowing down and did it all day long so I had to sadly get rid of him:(

I have Houdans, SG/NN Mixes, in the bator, if I get any extra Houdans I will let you know. You are sure welcome to take this little guy if you want to try! They are not to hard to re-home in SLC if you need to. I also have a SQ pure white bearded Silkie Roo that is almost 4 months old too. From Varner Lane Fancies, (sikie_sue) on here. He is gorgeous. You can have him Free if you want him, I have to get him re-homed before he starts crowing, and to make room for the SG/NN babies. I have 4 silkies and 2 Purebred SG that are around 3 months old, if I have extra females for sale I will let you know. I only want to keep 2-3. I have a blue partridge Silkie that is for sale for sure. I **think** it is a girl, but not positive. I can post pics if you want to see. That one is $7. I am only keeping the Whites, and B/B/S colors to breed with my SG rooster.
