Red, I adore that ameraucana. She is so beautiful! I have a lavender ameraucana and she has always been very small and not terribly fluffy. Pretty decent layer, and such a pretty color though. I don't have an ameracauna rooster though, so if took her, her babies would either be olive eggers (with the fbcm) or a blue hybrid with the legbar rooster. I'm pretty sure that's not what you intended on your breeder though.
Lisa, I'm SHOCKED that those babies are offspring of a fbcm. I've never had a FBCM have offspring other than a dark gray or black. Even my 1/4 FBCM are dark. I can't wait to see how those grow out.
So, new cow adventure. My stupid (well, maybe not SO stupid) smaller cow, TBone, has decided he doesn't like our pasture anymore (again). I was on my way to list a property (super cute 1/2 acre property that can have roosters in Syracuse for 180k if any of you want it) when I got a call from my neighbor that Tbone was under my pear tree, pigging out. Great. So I delay the appointment, run home, and get him back in the field, which was a bit of trick considering I have to go through a neighbor's pasture with their llamas to get to the opening to our pasture. Yesterday, I go out and see him in the neighbor's field. Awesome. Got him back. This morning, I check on him, and he's back in their field AGAIN!! I chase him back, and find a spot where he's pushed under. So, I got a pallet and stuck it there til DH gets home from Germany and can help me re-string the section of barb wire that had come loose. I go back out 30 min later, and watch him push under the fence in a new place.
When they get that big, it requires a certain amount of cooperation to keep them in the field. I asked my neighbor if I could borrow a couple of dog panels to put in that spot until we can drive a couple more t-posts in the strengthen the fence. I was on his side of the pasture wiring them into place, and the llamas were sooooooo interested in helping me. My friend was giving me moral support and snapped a couple pictures that I thought I'd share. Ever gotten a wet willy from a llama? I have.
