Ace, line breeding works really well if you do it correctly. Line breeding intensifies certain traits that you want but it also intensifies certain traits that you don't want. for example. if you breed RIR for the dark mahogany color only you will end up with beautiful dark mahogany color. But if you rooster is aggressive it may pass this gene on and eventually will get beautiful colored birds that will attack everything even each other. (this is the trait people look for when they raise birds for fighting). I have never tried it due to neighbors but i do plan on trying it sometime in the near future since this is not a permanent home. And yes it will be with RIR's, my favorite breed.

I have Seramas from three different breeders in this little bunch of babies. So, I have different roosters..well, a lot of roosters to choose from..of course. A lot more boys than girls this time.

Tomorrow is the big day! My DH turns 50. He is "Darth Rooster" on here if anybody wants to pm him happy birthday .... He is quite bashful. So we always try to make it interesting for him :D :D :D

Here is the sign I put at the end of our road, on the highway..... lots of truck drivers. :p lol

FEEL FREE to text him tomorrow if ya' want! Area code 435. (He would love that ;) ) LOLOLOL

Red congratulations, I knew you would get it! So happy for you!

Cynthia, cute cute little chickens. Hope the boys are all quiet and sweet for you!

Sphinx, after tomorrow I might need to hire you to find me a new house. I might get kicked out of this one
We have some serious pranks to pull tomorrow.

Congratulations Red! I hated being out of a job and finally getting that call almost makes it seem like the heavens open up and the darkness dissipates. (A little dramatic maybe? lol).
So, how often do sermas lay.... I'm interested in little "robin" chickens too :) everything is more cute miniaturized right?
Ah how I've missed you guys. Lisa, I'll have to shoot your hubby a text or two or twelve tomorrow lol. Gotta celebrate a fellow Scorpio.
Before I go I gotta share what my 5 year old said yesterday. He is such a thoughtful child. He said "Momma, what do you do when someone's little brother dies?" I told him you just hug them, maybe write them a card. So off he surries to get a paper and crayons and we wrote his friend a card. He also got him a stuffed puppy.
Another request, please pray for my friend's 6 month old baby, Christina, or maybe more for her mom as she isn't expected to make it much longer. She was born with heart problems and after 6 months of fighting the doctors say there is nothing more they can do. *Sigh* Too many little ones being called home.

Sara so much heartbreaking news with the little ones! Especially with holidays approaching. These people are lucky to have your support, they will need it...always makes you want to hug your children closer when you hear these things.

Text away! Ha ha! I am just hoping he does not go out and see the signs. He is supposed to stay home all day tomorrow, but he also knows I am a prankster and is wise to my prior use of that fence. Hoping it will stay up for a good part of the day and he will have many many birthday greetings to keep him entertained :p

And Happy Birthday back to you Scorpio girl!

Looks like we have a few Scorpios around. Me too..Nov.

Lisa, you sound so much like me. I love to tease. I have slowed down a bit, but Oh, this looks like something I should have come up with when Scott turned 50. lol...

Sara..I am not sure how often the Seramas lay. I haven't had any lay yet. Sundance can probably tell you. I would guess they go broody a lot though!

Lisa, sent your dh a text. My dh turns 40 in February. He's threatening to go out of town for the entire month. It's like he expects a plot or something.

Are my little tiny frizzles seramas? If so, they are TERRIBLE layers. Absolutely awful. But they're so darn cute that I don't mind.

Sara, that is so sad for your friend to lose her baby.

Thanks for the roo advice. I'm wanting to take a wheaten Ameracauna rooster from my friend, but i have to wait til we move to be sure it will all work out. I have three chicks that are a leghorn/barred rock hen crossed with a marans rooster from bluejem. I'm interested to see if the dark egg gene picks up at all. I hope so! Even just a bit...:)

They lay everyday in the summer but are very broody. My tiny serama raised 3 full size chicks, 4 chuckers and 3 quail/ They are good moms and they give such joy as they are so tiny. My girls are all frixxled. My friend tells me they look like a shredded toilet paper roll. They do not do well in the cold. I was told they temp should not go less than 50 degrees
