Thank you for the incriminating info, hehe.

Thanks Red and Sphinx! He loves the messages lol. And anyone else who has sent anonymous ones, thanks so much!

He got messages throughout the day....so glad! He took the day off work last minute, after my daughter and I had plotted to go in to his office and terrorize his desk with notes signs and balloons and tell all the coworkers...so I am glad he still got lots of attention haha! One year I sent a pink gorilla (singing-gram) to his work and it danced and sang to him...he really was so embarrassed. He totally chickened out going to work and hid out here at home, I think he was so worried about what he had planned :p , but still got calls and messages from so many people...he did not realize the sign was on the fence until tonight, it was so funny, I took him over there to take it down, and he could not believe I really did it

He got some pretty funny singing messages and videos, so it was a great day. He has been laughing about it now, (probably thinking "whew that's over!" BUT, we have several fun things planned over the weekend. I just think those landmark birthdays are so fun to tease and have fun with, I am grateful he is a good sport and lets us kid around with him. Thanks guys for helping me out to make it memorable for him!

No idea where to get a salmon silkie, but they sure are pretty.

I'm excited because one of my FBCM started laying again. Today, I got 7 eggs. Maybe more- I haven't been out there to check since 12:30.

Hey everyone! I don't think I've been on in months, I feel so out of the loop. But I've been doing a lot of traveling lately for work. Just got home from Florida, and my poor girls are out in the snow. I have a brand new metal water fountain with the metal water heater base, and the girls are terrified to go near it. I hope they wise up since everything was frozen this morning, beside that. Hope everyone's girls are doing good with all the snow and cold weather today. My girls were in the main coop or the little coop that I made all day long. I feel so bad for them, its not even that cold yet, and I want to bring them all in the house. I could only image all 18 girls in the house. LOL I guess I need to figure out where to hang a light out there. Not so much concerned on getting the eggs. I get about 4 a day, and that is plenty for right now. But more so they have light and some heat in there. We get really cold up here by the canyon.

I need to go outside and take some photo's of them since they are all just about full grown. They are all so beautiful. Still just the 5 layers, really surprised that my March Cochin Bantam hasn't laid an egg as of anywhere that I have looked, and my Silkies should have started too, but nothing out of them either.

And Lisa I need to get a photo of that Hokey Pokey I got from you, I'm really hoping that she is really a she. I love my Pokey, its a wild looking chick. But she is starting to get the nice streamers on the top of her head like a male Silkie. :( I will so very cry if she's a he. I just love how wild she looks.

As for food for winter, I have them all on All Flock since my youngest are 3 months old. I also have Oyster shells out there for them, and they get scratch just about every day, its gives them something to do since its gotten colder, they all just stay under the pine tree most of the day. Is there anything that I should be giving them, they usually get some type of fresh fruit or veg every other day. I've thought about giving them some hardboiled eggs or scrambled eggs in the mornings when its cold, can I do that? I've heard of oatmeal too,

Thanks!

One of my neighbors is eventually going to video me chasing chickens around the yard. I just built a new coop for my Buckeyes and they can't seem to remember how to get back in it at night. So the last three nights I have had to catch all 15 of them and put them in one at a time. Some got wise tonight and made it easy for me to catch them. A few decided they would never be taken alive. Fortunately I won, but I am sure the struggle was amusing to watch.

Good to see you back. Brian and I were just talking about you today. I was wondering where you were?! ha...
Well, oatmeal is good, sounds like you are giving them good stuff to eat..yes, eggs are great extra protein for them in the winter, I scramble mine. :) I started giving mine canned corn. Not every day, but I give it to them about 3 X's week. It warms them up, and it helps keep their weight up during those cold months. They need the extra chubby going on in the winter. I also give them spinach twice or three times a week since they aren't getting any grass..may start doing the fodder again.

Hi Karen, good to see you back on. Mabe your silkies are broken and you need to sale them back to me.

Cynthia, i got a picture of the little blue i got from you (95% sure it is a pullet). The white one is to hard to catch, (pretty sure it is a roo).

And this is spike. I plan on breeding her to my Splash Silkie in the spring.
