Would have to look it up. I am interested too..I bought a collar tonight. :) They are adjustable. May have to get one for a smaller roo. I really would like a nice/friendly bantam cochin. Or a silkie.

The d'uccles sure are cute, I have been drooling over photos of those all week. I really want to steer clear of bantams overall, but I have that one pen, and they all are just so sweet. A pretty speckled one sure would look cute in there :D For now, just silkies/SG in there. Crazy how cute they are with their little eggs, rolling them around the little house, trying to hide them from me. I picked the blue partridge one up, I have to lift her by the back feathers, and she had her egg between her feet and it went up in the air with her, I jiggled her a little and it fell down and she just squealed the craziest cutest little squeal, she was so mad. She was flailing around. Then when i put her back down she ran to the corner with her nose in the corner and her butt facing me. She would not look at me or make a sound, she was totally giving me the silent treatment. Poor dear, I feel so mean stealing her eggs, but it is so cute the little tantrum she throws. Will have to let her sit on some when it warms up.

Anybody want any chicks from Cackle? I am putting an order together, and will need to get extras to fill the minimum requirement. I want to get a couple more Austrawhites, and a few Golden Comets. I have lots of 2-3 yr olds to replace this summer.

I am planning to have them arrive in three weeks - ish....

So Gary….Are you selling any Silkie eggs right now? I know someone in Lindon that sells Silkie eggs for hatching, he lives next to a friend, I guess if you don't have any I will have to call my friend to see if she knows if he's still selling them, I think he has a black rooster and 2 white hens, and a brown hen. And I still need an Americana sp? one that lays blue eggs. Anyone? Because I think we might be starting all over next week with eggs, Hopefully we have a better hatch rate if we do. Sad for the little chicks, I really hope they still come out.

If you'd like, I can collect some of the eggs from my blue Ameraucana for you. The roosters that have "courted" her have all been white egg layers, so it's kind of the same concept as the SBEL - just maybe not as intense of a blue. Any chicks would be EE's with a good chance of laying blue eggs. I have a mix outside who was sired by the same roos and hatched from a brown egg. She lays brown, just like her momma, so I think it should work. Anyway, I can also collect a few from one of my EE's that lays green-blue, or some of the olive ones from my OE. I'd offer you some from my SBEL, too, but she's currently broody and isn't laying.

Oh my goodness. I was sent 15 BO eggs. Tomorrow they go into lock down..all 15 of them!

And Rhodebars. Was sent 12, 10 are going in lock down with the BO's. These eggs were fertile!

Wow!

Cynthia, that collar is amazing. I have heard whispers (ha ha) of it. That makes me think that maybe keeping my roosters after I move is possible. If you do get one, report back!

Oh my gosh. Lol. Love the pun

This was posted on FreeCycle this morning. Is it safe to feed, because I will go get some.

decades-old food storage: lentils, wheat, etc. They're in bags, not buckets, and they are contaminated with bugs and grossness.

Bugs should be not problem (unless maybe they've been there so long there's a lot of build-up of poop or something?). Just a special extra treat!

DON'T touch anything that's had ANY mold, though. And especially not corn. The chickens can get internal fungal infections that would cause them to starve to death even while eating well.

Also, I know uncooked soybeans are extremely bad for chickens, & I don't know what other legumes are safe or unsafe in an uncooked state.

That's the best I can offer.

The power was out when I woke up this morning! And, I had a pip. That bator's windows were all fogged up. The humidity had shot up to 88. I could hear the chick peeping. I was getting covers, and even lit a couple of those little candles, can't think of the name right now, and hoped for heat in there. :/
Well, the power was back on within 20 mins. of me being up.

I'm thinking my EE's and OE's that have only been in a week should be fine. And, I have those BO's and Rhodebars going into lock down today. They should be fine. Here I was excited about having all of the BO's make it. They are pretty much fully grown, so hopefully...

wheat should fine..like speckled said..nothing with mold. I would stay away from soybeans.

Any pips yet??
