Utah!

I personally snatch them out once they are up and walking around pretty good. You don't have to worry about water and food for a couple of days, but, I find that they do like water after around 24 hrs. You can put the food near them too..some will try and peck at it. I will throw some on the liner I have over the wood chips for a while. They see it, peck at it.
4 babies? Woot!

I have 5 now :D I still have 5 that has pipped and then 1 that is still wiggling. Not sure about the others though. I did open it up and take out the empty shells since they were breaking them into pieces. I guess I can go take them up to the brooder. I thought about leaving them till the other open that is wiggling pips, it seems like once the first one was out they all came out within and hour. It was crazy.

Hatch Update! If you all don't know by now I officially have little babies. Eekkkkk.. They are so cute! I totally will have to do this again! I locked down 17 eggs, 3 of which I couldn't see in, and those 3 never did hatch. I still have 1 NN mix and 1 Silkie that have pipped in the incubator.

This is what has hatched. 5 Silkies, waiting on one more, so hopefully 6 total Silkies, 2 NN mixes, and still waiting on one. One has the naked neck and it was from a white egg the lady said was out of her Houdan, the other NN Mix was out of a dark chocolate Maran egg, that one is not naked. Interesting combo, I know. Then I have 3 eggs from Red that Hatched. All 3 blueish green ones. Not sure their parents, I think dad is an Icelandic. Red can tell us all for sure. So right now I have 9 in the brooder, 1 Silkie just hatched in the incubator and still waiting on the other 2. So if those hatch I have 12 total. My daughter is on cloud nine. Of course she thinks we are keeping them all. Hehe, maybe a Silkie or 2 and for sure the ones from Red to get me some colored eggs, but the rest are going to go sooner or later. I will let her raise them for a few weeks.

Here are a few photos, I will take individual ones later when they are all dried and fluffy.

OMGoodness Silly those chicks are soooo cute! So happy for you! (Hey! Is that a blue silkie in there? If you sell blue silkies, let me know! I am looking for a boy too if you get an unwanted rooster from that one. )

I love the NN mix with that giant fluffy front. So cute, I bet your daughter is going crazy! A great hatch for sure.

I have no idea what color those Silkies are, but you are free to any Roosters or any that we aren't keeping we have 6, and I might keep 2 of them, probably will keep them all till they are at least a few months old to tell which is a hen. I'm hoping the white/yellow ones are 100% white when they get bigger, I want a snowball outside. I have one that is a Chipmunk, I love that one too, so cute, and then the other are like blackish. I will get more photos when they are really fluffy, but if its blue, you are more then welcome to him/her, because I think we will be keeping at least a white one. I would love a Splash, but I don't think that is happening. I still have one more that has pipped and hasn't hatched, the other one in the bator that hatched this morning is like a yellow/white too.

I so hope the white ones are girls for you! They are so hard to sex, it is definitely a good idea to keep them awhile. Half the time mine crow or lay an egg before I can even guess. The ones that have a yellowish tint do whiten up. I had a peachy colored one that I thought would be orange and turned white at about 4 weeks old, I was so surprised! The yellowish ones could be splash too, if you see any tiny dark flecks start to come in. Can't wait to see more pics when they get fluffy. It has been fun watching your posts through incubation, I really am so happy for you!

I will for sure get more photos up. Crossing my fingers I have a blue for you. Have no idea what they should look like as a chick. I googled it and some are even white with some blue/blackish color in them. I'm sure my chipmunk one is a partridge, that is as good as my Silkie Colors go. :D

Lisa, I went all out on these! But, they were so nice looking. Only one developed! It is in lock down. So, she sent me 4 more eggs, three are looking good. I won't be keeping them all if I end up with four. I am wanting a white girl again.

I have some babies well on the way that are little cochin mixes..come on already little ones!
