Utah!

Its on my desk, downstairs in a room with no window, and it stays 100% the same temp. in that room pretty much all year long. Why? And I'm about ready to hit the stupid thing its keeps jumping from 97 to 99, it won't regulate, not sure if its because it has 43 eggs in there. Yikes! I keep saying to myself. Its okay, its just been 24 hours, leave it alone.

Hello from Weber County! We're a new chicken family although I'm not entirely new to having backyard chickens. We picked up 4 different chicks from IFA yesterday and they're happily hanging out in their brooder. My kids are entranced with them.

We have a buff orpington, rhode island red, ameraucana, and blue laced red wyandotte. I'd love to add a maran but there weren't any available. I'm really hoping these are all pullets or else we'll have to do some re-homing of any roosters.

Anyone else in/around Weber County?

:welcome

Yes, it should regulate any time now..but you should have it around 100 at the least..you have a still air .. right?
I was just wondering where you had yours. I forgot when you said before. You are lucky to have a room that stays the same.

I know it should be at 100. It was at 100 and 38% for almost 3 full days before I set, and now I can't get it up past 99, every time I look it says something different, and humidity is down to 22% but I'm not too worried about that, I can add water when I rotate. So I guess if its still low tomorrow I will be messing with it to get it up to 100. This is with one plug in and one out. Stupid incubator. Better not mess up on me, I have my friends eggs in there.

It will be fine. If is not to 100 tomorrow morning, just go ahead and tweak that stinker. You probably remember how those eggs felt during the last time you incubated. Try and go by that. Do they feel..just right? lol... I have found that I can do that now.
I have 9. Silkie's going into lockdown on Tues. That's a lot from the 13 I started with. I hope they do well during lock down..that's the biggest worry for me.

I'm sure they will all be just fine. :D Stupid incubator, I'm wondering if its because there is 43 eggs in there, at least its not been below 97, it came up to around 97 about 4 hours yesterday after I set, and its just staying in between 97-99. I do have 1 plug in 1 plug out. I did that with the last hatch till about 14 days, and then I left both plugs out for the rest of the hatch, and that worked out great. But I only had about 22 in there, so there is double the eggs. I'm kind of worried about rotating them all, with the temp. Because I'm afraid it might be a hard time to keep this larger hatch regulated. But I'm not sure how good the fertilization is on the EE's and my friend Americuana's. I'm 100% my OE are good to go since I got them from Wendy, I almost don't even want to candle those, so I don't jinx them. But the rest, who really knows, so I might be cutting the numbers down by day 7 anyways.

Just remember to turn them very slowly at first. Handle with care! Or wait..do you have a turner? I am going to put mine in a turner when I get my new bator. Hope it comes tomorrow or Tues. My eggs tomorrow!! They better get here.
Wow, that many eggs in there could be your answer. That's a lot. Yep, check in the morning, it may be back up to 100 by then.

No, I don't have a turner, but I was really thinking today that I should got get the turner, but I would have to kick out an egg. Lol. It will only hold 42 eggs. I'm sure I will lose at least 1/4 of them by day 7, right? I can imagine them all being fertile. Well I'm sure my 13 OE's are. At least I'm praying they are. But for the others, I'm not sure on their fertility. So we were told they are fertile. Time will tell.
