Utah!

Sorry Iluvmysilkies, All my Silkies went broody at the same time. I was able to gather 7 eggs but not sure if they are all Silkies. Maybe once they start laying again i could gather some eggs for you or hatch some out under one of my broody hens. (there is always a broody in my coop) I may be running to Payson to get some Barnevelder eggs soon. I figure if the hens are going to be broody then they better be making money right.

As of this morning i now have 4 broody hens. 3 Silkies and 1 EE Bantam (Momo)

I need help/advice . I have a broody hen . Do I take her to other pen or make a new box and move her. I want her to sit on some eggs but she is in the box were they all lay there eggs.

Yes, I personally think it's best to put her somewhere private. A place when the babies come, they will be safe not only from the others, but in an area where they won't fall from a high up nest box.
I put my girls in dog crates, in an area that no other chickens can be near them.

How long has she been broody? I move mine to a different coop with the eggs but not until she is serious about being broody. Two of my Silkies that are broody right now are nesting on the floor so I'm just going to leave them there since every one else lays in the boxes or a different coop. You could move her to a large dog carrier or even a small wire cage. If you leave her with the flock make sure you mark her eggs with a colored pencil so you can keep her sitting the eggs that she is supposed to be siting on. Crayon doesn't work since it melts away.

I can't remember when I hatched her. I know she is at least 5 months, maybe 6. She is really getting close to laying. She's done the little molt they do when they are getting older. She should lay anytime from the looks of her comb, it's starting to look pretty pink.

I am thinking if sundance is going to be at the vet tomorrow, we could all meet up there. sundance, can you post the address here? And the exit she would take, same as you do, she's coming from the same side as you. sundance, what time were you going to be there?

Man, I do not know what I did to my right wrist, but it is very painful. I can hardly type. This is very upsetting. Guess I'll go get it x-rayed if it doesn't get better by tomorrow. This getting older thing is no fun. We hurt, and we don't know what we did to be hurting. :/ Crazy. I've been thinking and thinking, can't think of a thing. Unless, I now have gout like Scott did. You can get it in your wrists too..other places in the body other than the foot/toe. Maybe I just sprained it somehow. It's an Ouch!

Chilly out there today!

No gender guesses for me?

Lisa although I would love more chicks we have enough. :) I just hope that at least 1 or 2 of the SBEL's I already got from you are girls!
