GARY..do you still want a HRIR? I have to give this guy up. Is 10 ok for him? He's getting his sickle feathers in. Pretty colors in his neck. Getting more dark maroon.

Is he LF or Banty? I cant have any LF due to 1 neighbor that complains about the noise. Also LF roosters have a tendency to try to kill my Chihuahua! I am looking for a new splash silkie roo that is full beard and crest, Also looking for a sweet light colored show girl pullet with full crest and beard.

This question is for you all who buys eggs on line. I found some F14 Sizzle that are beautiful but she wants $75 for a dozen. Doesn't this seem a little high!

That is about what they cost. Eek I know. I was paying $75-100 for a dozen showgirl eggs last year. Especially sad when 3-4 hatch after being beat up in the mail, and you are lucky to get one girl. (Plus they hatch a percentage as silkies only so it is really sad if you get no showgirls at all!)

I had to get 6 batches to get 2 showgirls hens, and 7 showgirl roosters, the rest were silkies. Sooooo those two showgirl hens I have out there were about $240 each. Minus a few $5 bills I got for selling a few straight run chicks.

Yep, not so smart I know! I have heard sizzles are even more expensive and hard to get the actual frizzled silkies out of them....

Shucks Gary! He's LF..and that's why he isn't working out here..he won't let my Dachshund go potty without going up to him and watching. My little guy runs from him, but he follows him around.

Showgirl! This is how they look. Except in this case it is a show"guy" lol This was my paint Roo.

Thanks Lisa! I love showgirls! So, if you cross a SG with a silkie do you always get a SG? What about if both the roo and hen are SGs? Not so great? Like when you have 2 frizzles and their poor babies are frazzles? I am loving this website for all of the amazing things I'm learning! No really! I researched and read a ton of things on chick and chicken care before I got my babies...but I learn at least 1 if not 20 new things about breeding and showing and incubation and hatching and everything else poultry related every day! I love it!

I have a lot of silkie/SG's in my bator.  Can't count my chicks before they are hatched though!  Will see what happens..and if I get a few, maybe you will want one.

When do they hatch?

It must be in their nature. maybe they see small dogs as foxes or something and its in their evolution to attack! I have 2 large male cats but they have never attacked a chicken or a chick but will kill quail, doves and birds but are afraid of the chickens but our little dog has no fear even when he comes in the house a little bloody from getting a beating from a LF rooster.

He doesn't bother our Shcnoodle. ?? And of course, stays clear of our Golden R. And me, and my DH. It's just that Brody runs from all of the chickens..lol. There is one hen out there that has to go up to him every time, and watch. He isn't afraid of her now. But the cockerel actually pecked his butt the other day, soooo.....

Hey Lisa, check this out. I checked in with the gal that I got those nice silkie eggs from I have the one black still going strong, a couple of paints, and sme BBS. So, she posted a photo of a blue, and a black! Wow!


My eggs go into lock down next week. So many people are wanting silkies!
