Ace and Lisa - I got a call today from Christina (Desert Springs) She is downsizing and getting rid of her Icelandics. They are all descended from my flock. One hen, one roo, several chicks including a white one. Would either of you be interested?

Aww sorry to hear you think it might be a boy. I'd definitely hang onto it longer though if its only 4 weeks. Thats not long enough to know for sure. How is it's comb looking? I think boys can start developing obvious combs this early but not always. Its been a huge game of mine lately trying to sex my babies haha. I have two white ones right now. One im 95% sure is a girl (That I felt was female from the moment I got it as a baby) and the other has the typical backward pointing crest, but a round girly tail, and just has that boy vibe to me! This chick is almost 8wks old and Its comb is wider then her's (same age) which usually would tell me boy right away but its still fairly flat..Its not puffy or anything yet. And I just sold my splash a few weeks ago that was from the same batch and was already growing a much more raised comb so I was already pretty sure he was a boy at that point. So im still hanging into that one just hoping it could be a girl lol. But it's sure leaving me wondering and I still think its going to be a boy, but I hope it surprises me so I can keep it. Still no attempt to crow yet either which has to be a good sign. You should post a pic of your silkie's face, and i could give you my guess just for kicks. I'd definitely give it another month or two to be a little more obvious. It really looks and acts masculine if that makes sense. I can't be 100% as this is the first silkie I have ever owned. It's really a cutie. It will be four weeks this Thursday. So I need to give it more time I just wanted to see if anyone sold babies on here so that I can have someone in mind to call once I know for sure.
One little cochin. Pretty cute. I think it may be a splash. Bantam.I think it may be a boy.

Wow his/her comb actually looks "just" like my (white one in question) right now! The one ive felt is a boy but still "hoping" could be a girl because its comb looks like this and its almost 8 weeks old now had hasent really gotten any bigger so im crossing fingers, but the width alone makes me think boy. He started getting it about the same age as yours probably a lil earlier. Keep tracking it and see if it gets any bigger over the next few weeks. I think we both still have a chance, but I could see why your thinking boy, for the same reason I am with mine. I should take a pic of mine and show you how similar they are. It's even harder now to since its crest is getting bigger and more beautiful so im hoping it's not a boy lol.
This is my "Possible boy" when he was 4 weeks old. And notice his/her comb was wide even then, just like your lil guy/gals is! I will take recent pics of him tomorrow to compare now from then. The crest is getting bigger and poofier but the comb looks about the same. It really doesent look much different from this, and he/she is almost 7 weeks old. I keep expecting it to start raising up and getting puffy like my splash's did (same age) but so far it hasent, its just wide.. so im holding onto hope.Wow his/her comb actually looks "just" like my (white one in question) right now!
