I have a blind bantam cochin that I took in, not sure I can save it's eyes but trying.  I was hoping it was a her since they go broody, but it's looking a lot like a boy now.   I'm thinking your guy might help my big flock when I let them out to free range in a field-fenced horse corral.  I get real nervous, the hawks are usually here within 10 minutes of letting them out but I don't have bird that really watches the sky.  Is he ok with big dogs?  I try to put a dog or two in with them when outside (my dogs are great with chickens, in fact the lab thinks they are his chickens, not mine lol), they help keep away the foxes, but the hawks don't care.
