Utah!

Well I am a day late and a dollar short, as per usual, but here is the picture we took of Jackson at the Salt Lake County fair over the weekend past. His cage card was missing, so I was not sure if it belonged to Sundance or not, until I was able to check this thread and see him in her post. If my memory works, there is an old Johnny Cash song called Jackson… Nice looking young fellow none the less.

I think I might be smitten with these little guys.

Best to all and your birds,

RJ

I gave all of my girls their first baths today. :). I was sure they would hate it, but for the most part they all loved it! Yay! I love surprises!

These two loved it so much that they fell asleep. Out cold!

They were all really good and let me blow dry them as well. These three are the only ones that would hold still long enough for me to get a pic. They are so fluffy!

I got Jelly Bean, the paint , and Olive, the blue, from Cynthia They are the sweetest, most gorgeous chickens ever!!!
If I'm outside they cry until I let them out of the run. Once they're out they follow me everywhere! If I sit down they are in my lap or snuggled up by my side. I am head over heels in love with these two! :). If it were possible to potty train a chicken I would do it in a heartbeat so that they could sleep at the foot of my bed with my Ginny dog. I'm not sure how my hubby would feel about that, but I would love it!

Thank you so much Cynthia! :)

Aww, you are welcome. I'm glad they made it your way, they are being taken care of for sure. That blue is looking great! I have been told that the paint, will get more spots as it gets older, after molts. I'm glad they are little snuggle buns.
My silkies have gone to some great homes. I'm so thankful. I so wanted to breed, but those collars..nope. Don't work well enough for around here. Will just have to keep my eyes open for what I want on here. :)

Does anyone up north have a live animal trap that they would let me borrow for a few days? I have a predator problem and thinking it is a fox or cat. I would rather move it somewhere else than kill it. I plan on talking to animal control tomorrow to see what my options are.

Hgillins, if you've got a fox problem, they are quite clever. A regular live trap may not work. I have seen things on YouTube about a kind of lasso trap that can be set for them. It is hidden in the dirt and springs up to grab them when triggered. However, I've never set one of these, myself. Birdman may have some other tips for you. Good luck!

Abko, loving your fluffy clean babies :) I bought some Dawn yesterday in preparation of a mass bath day for my flock. No bugs allowed! Everyone gets a bath, whether they need it or not.

Leaving for the hunt in a couple of days and trying to get things all set. Just a little stressful, hence my being awake at 3:30 am to worry, lol! :) Wish me luck! We will get it sorted.

I have a skunk trap. It works great for skunks but fox and raccoon might be too smart for it.

I've never had a cat issue....the birds always kick the crap out of any kitty that strays into their domain.

From what I have read, I will have to cover the trap with branches and grass and put bait in front of the trap and wait for the food to be gone. Wire the door up and set food just inside the trap till that is gone. Then set trap and put food in the back of the trap. Once they feel like it is safe they should walk in.

I feel I owe it to my birds to try.

I have some Serama chicks for sale. Not sure how many more I will have this year as my hens are cutting way back on laying. I have four chicks available now, that are ready to go. One for sure is a roo the other three are straight run. I have about 19 eggs in the bator too due to hatch over the next three weeks. My roo is gorgeous, from OC Seramas. He is still young and building his chest but he is ALWAYS upright and he is so sweet. His chicks are very friendly and feathering out beautifully! They are raised IN my home and are very friendly and clean. PM me if you are interested. :) Sorry could not get a good pic of Rocket, my roo.

I'm told there are people who diaper their chickens so they can be in the house. I've never done it, I don't know much more
