When we were at IFA getting our 5 new chicks, the store associate, who tells us he owns a lot of chickens at home, knows a way to sex them. You pick them up by the scruff of their neck, and watch how they kick their feet. If they put their feet down within the first few seconds, it is a girl. If they won't stop kicking, it is a boy. Has to do with submission, and how roosters won't stop fighting, I think he said. Do you guys really think that is a reasonable way to sex them? I can see the logic of it, but I don't know.
Update: The hen that got severe wounds is doing pretty good. She has been walking around, limping, but walking, eating and drinking fine. Her vent has a big tear near it, and she has just been having her poo come drizzling out all the time. Although this morning, we did find a solid large poo near where she is in our garage. She actually layed an egg today. It looked normal, except a really light color for her, and the top had a warp in it so it looks like a huge egg with a small top. If she continues to heal the way she is, she might just make it.

Hey! I haven't heard from anyone around here. Are you still able to help?
I would love to help but I got rid of my cuckoo marans mix rooster that was fertIlizing my flock. I'm not sure if or how fertile my eggs are with my new SF roo. May take a few weeks? I will check my eggs for bullseyes today and let you know.

This are the babies I got yesterday :) the broody only hatched out 1 chick and I successfully put 6 more chick's under her to keep the loner company. Our cat had her kittens the same time the chick was hatching:)

@Dizzywitch, thanks for the eggs! I didn't know your roo was a naked neck! What a fun combo. It was great meeting you and your daughter! Thanks again for coming out here! I'm shocked you didn't leave with a few friends! Such self control!
