Utah!

For anyone interested. I am selling one of my 6wk old juvenile paint chicks. It's looking more on the cockerel side right now and will make a great addition to anyone who has thought about adding paint to their project. It comes from my big boy Buddy, and my blue hen Olive. It has crazy insane boots, and is going to look as nice as his dad. I am selling it for $30. If interested, send me a message and I can send pics. :)

So....my cute little blue Houdan mix chick----this is from my Houdans I got three yrs ago. If there was any doubt there were issues.....this one is getting cross beak. SERIOUSLY! I am so bummed. IT is the most gorgeous chick in the bunch. AND it came from the Houdan Hen but my frizzle silkie roo, no relation...and STILL....crossbeak again :/

Welcome to the newbies! The more the merrier :D

Pics of the Houdan mix---I was going to set more eggs, but I guess not :( I hope it does not get worse, it usually does if it starts this fast. Daaaaang it!

Brian--It's so crazy! I got a batch of live day old chicks from McMurray 3 years ago. There was high mortality...but otherwise the ones that lived were ok. Then I got a batch first of March, and again high mortality, but in addition the 4+ week olds started developing cross beak like crazy! Soooo I decided not to use them at all for breeding stock....then two eggs hatched that I had set from my older Houdans, and my silkie roo, And this is what happens to one of the chicks at 3 days old. Crazy!

wow that terrible I'm so sorry! I didn't have that problem when I got my houdans from ideal poultry. That is weird that you are getting alot of crossbeak. I wonder if inbreeding has alot to do with it?

so... not chicken related, but close enough ;) Is there anywhere local that breeds miniature silver appleyard ducks? If not, is there a reputable online breeder of that breed, that anyone has had experience with?
