wow that terrible I'm so sorry! I didn't have that problem when I got my houdans from ideal poultry. That is weird that you are getting alot of crossbeak. I wonder if inbreeding has alot to do with it?Brian--It's so crazy! I got a batch of live day old chicks from McMurray 3 years ago. There was high mortality...but otherwise the ones that lived were ok. Then I got a batch first of March, and again high mortality, but in addition the 4+ week olds started developing cross beak like crazy! Soooo I decided not to use them at all for breeding stock....then two eggs hatched that I had set from my older Houdans, and my silkie roo, And this is what happens to one of the chicks at 3 days old. Crazy!
Is there anywhere local that breeds miniature silver appleyard ducks? If not, is there a reputable online breeder of that breed, that anyone has had experience with?
