Utah!

Okay, just needing help double checking my math... if I need to get the eggs to the classroom 3 days before hatching (day 18), and still give them enough time to watch them... I'd have to get them there on a Monday or Tuesday.... so if I start setting the eggs on the 30th or the 1st, that would work, right? Incubation period is 21 days, yes? Do you count incubation from the day you put them in the incubator? And what time on day 18 do you start lockdown? Or is it just some point early in the day to start that?

Incubation is 21 days total for chickens. If you start incubation on the 1st they will hatch on the 22nd. Put your finger on the 22nd and count back 3 days like. 21, 20, 19. That would be day 18 day of incubation on may 19th 2015. So you don't count the first day. You count day one after 24 hours.

Pine shavings in the water---the struggle is real.....lol

(There are so many more chickens in these pictures than you think!) They don't seem to be ever be done popping out.

Here are the cuties we hatched from Dizzy's sweet flock.

These three came from BO eggs.
Two NN. One non-NN

These two came from barred rock eggs.
One of each. These two are so tiny! The little NN is my favorite!

This little one came from a white wyandotte egg.
When she first hatched she had very pale chipmunk stripes. As she dried they seemed to fade. It will be fun to see what color she is when her feathers come in!

I'm for sure keeping the little black NN and possibly one other. If anyone is interested in the others let me know

So cute!!! It's interesting that there's no variation in the colors in the chicks with the same moms and that Silver's baby is so light when she's so dark. I'm guessing #7 didn't make it?
