Utah!

Hi everyone! Been a while. Hope you're all well!

We have a new broody tonight. So funny! I went out to get eggs, and she was on the nest at 7, but didn't growl at me or fluff up. I think I pulled her out of hypnosis. ^.^ I peeked back at her, and she growled then. I was talking to my husband about her, and he seems to think we SHOULDN'T put eggs under her. Silly man. Anyone ever crossed a leghorn and an Australorp...? :D

Red, what was your final count? The pictures are so darn cute!! I was going to ask you about comb types with icies -- one of ours has a straight comb, one looks rose comb. They were the first out. Very robust!

Hope everyone else is doing well! All the fluffy pictures make me feel so nice inside. Seriously guys, this is like a drug. Ha ha ha The life of a chicken addict: staring at their own chickens, or joining a forum where they can stare at pictures of others' chickens. -.- We're sort of creepy, guys.

Hi Gus! Icee's can have all kinds of combs, but RC ad SC are the most common. I have one SC roo and three RC's, and then two of each with the hens. I'm kind of pleased that you got a SC :) And seven was my final count.

Okay, RJ gets to post all the fun pics of his time with Henny Penny, so here is a picture of my stress relief. Four of these are going to poorpitifulpear tomorrow, so I thought I'd better get a picture. Lisa, yours is the chocolate chick with the blonde highlights on the head, if you can see it. She is very sweet.

I have a Barred Rock Pullet that will be laying anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks. She is soo friendly. She just stands there when you walk up to her, with her head tilted sideways to look up at her. I have hatched way more chicks than I thought would hatch with that last hatch a long, and now these marans and NN and EE, and silkies..lol...eenie meenie miny moe.
I'm going to ask 20 on ksl..15 for someone here. Close to laying. :)

Gus, the Leghorn Australorp cross is called an Austrawhite at Cackle hatchery, I have had them and they are AWESOME! White with black flecks usually. This is when the Aust is the male. Link to the pic is here:
