Utah!

Eggsbert, did someone really sell you that barred baby with the head spot, without telling you it was a boy?? Sometimes people just disgust me. I totally understand having to get rid of boy chickens, but how is snookering someone into taking it any better then just doing away with the poor little guy? Dishonesty just sickens me!

Really?   :th

J/K...LOL...
That is me exactly. Especially when I'm pregnant. Ha ha ha or eating spaghetti.

Ha ha ha Newmarch, it's such a dangerous meal on so many levels. I have a son who used to literally rub his spaghetti sauce hands in circles all over his face. SMH

Yup, I specifically asked if she thought it was a girl and she said yes.

Now I'm stuck trying to get rid of him... I'd keep a rooster if it was allowed, but it's illegal in our city to keep them. So I'll either have to rehome him or sell him as food.

Whelp, posted on the forums to confirm the bad news... The chick I drove down to Spanish Fork for is a boy. In fact, of my 4 frizzles, only one pullet. Now I need to get rid of these baby boys. Probably a boy just to spite me. Frizzle boy... I suspected him to be a boy from the very start. Spanish Fork chick, had I researched more, I would have known on pick-up this was a boy. My only lady frizzle... Stay a girl for me, please.
Sending girlie vibes and crossies for that last one! Dang!

Ugh, the nerve! I'd say maybe the lady just didn't know, except that you asked... I'm so sorry. :( I had some luck by putting an ad for mine on KSL recently. Good luck!

Downright slimey. I am sorry they passed a hard thing on. I am sending grumbles to the faceless person that sexed my Brahma wrong and know that it is just what it is but if someone willingly made that choice to lie I would be furious.

I went to Leland Milling Company web page and looked at their Poultry/ meat bird feed.
http://www.lelandmill.com/chickens-meat-birds/
It looks like it is all Corn and Soy protein with some mystery vitamin & mineral package, does that sound right? It sounds pretty weird after reading the alphabet soup in Purina flock raiser. Do you supplement their diet with other stuff?
Do I have to bring my own containers to put the feed in? How do they weigh that? Do they have a pre-bagged option? Their web page is unclear to me. I have never in my life been to a mill. This sounds crazy strange to me.
I have to buy feed this week and was thinking about checking this place out. It does not look like they have a "Duck" food exactly but their grower stuff might work for now. IDK! New stuff is so confusing.

I think I'm mostly upset that she let me drive an hour down there and an hour back (using up 1/4 of a tank of gas because my car sucks) to get a chick that I can't keep.
She didn't give me any pictures so I didn't know going in what the chick looked like. That's what I get for trusting people. My lack of faith in humanity has been restored.

EDIT: Any suggestions on a replacement chick? Now I'm short a standard size bird. I was thinking Delaware or Sussex (if I can find any now).

I've heard great things about Sussex. @acemario could tell you more about them.

I just had a hatch, but mine are all mutts, and I can't guarantee the gender either.
