May have to give them a try one of these days. Assuming you have the Speckled variety?

Yup. That's right. Next year I will have some pure hatching eggs available from stock from Iowa and Oregon. (I kept the ones that I thought would be closest to SOP... the dark coloring with no white wing or tail feathers), but I'm not guaranteeing show quality. But they are such a fun breed. Depending on how they lay, I may start leaning towards keeping them as my "base" breed.

she is a Red Ranger. I never expected her to go broody. She is my sixth this year already and I will be inundated with chicks.

This is the little one from the real blue egg. Looks like puffy cheeks will happen. 5 toes, the back tow are fused together. Happened in a batch of silkies I hatched once, most of them were like that. This little one is noisy right now. Another has hatched from a blue/green egg..5 toes.
The other one has more of a black chipmunk stripe.

We got more chicks! My husband kept saying he didn't want any more chickens right now, but he stopped at IFA to look at honey supplies and came home with two BO chicks. When he saw how much we loved them, he proposed going back for two more chicks and we ended up with two Plymouth Barred rocks. The kids are loving them and I'm just a little excited too.

there were a couple of mine that had that toe fusing too! one of them also had 5 on one foot and then 4 on the other lol

bitsy, I have one with the 5 then 4 on the other too..A RIR.

I now have 5 babies and counting/ waiting.

I had 8 go into lock down.

Love the muffs on these babies. This one has the 5 toes, not fused.



Just a cute little thing. Better be a girl, I've already had that talk with it.
