Utah!

Ace, great to see you on here again. Enjoying the warmer weather indeed. I have a fierce little broody right now too. Never seen one so frightening. Ha ha I always love seeing your building projects.

Eggsbert, fluffy toys indeed. Ha ha ha Our dog is smaller than our older layers. He is half chihuahua, half Pomeranian. (I get more comments on his cuteness than my kids -.-) He loves to explore the coop, but gets chased like crazy by my GSLs anytime he does. Poor lad.

Cynthia, how exactly do rooster collars work?

It keeps them from gaining all of the air needed to crow right. They take deep breaths. I heard him try today, it sounded pretty funny, but I think he may have thought so too, haven't heard him all day. Will see. I hear that they can keep crowing loud with one, they have to be put on right. I must have lucked out the first try. :)

Hi all! It's been a while! glad to see everyone's flocks are thriving! Red, how did your hatch turn out? How is your garden coming along?
My flock is just-a-growing. My SS are as lovely and sweet as ever. I love them more and more everyday! Also, my cuckoo marans is now broody, and man, is she a mean broody!!!!! We'll see if she snaps out of it.

These rainy weeks have been killing me because of all the projects I've wanted to get done! Since the rain stopped, I was able to build and plant my herb arbor:

And I am starting on. 6' by 8' coop for my aunt. Here is some of the framing for the front section:

I hope all my chicken friends are enjoying this change of weather as much as I am!

It went well, thank you. I had seven gorgeous babies hatch out with plenty of boys apparent ;) The garden is good and keeps me sane. Beets, radishes, corn, beans, squash, sunflowers, melons, peppers, tomatoes, kohl rhabi, pumpkins, broccoli, cukes.... Yay! Good to see you on here :)

goodness you are busy. If you have extra bring them my way. I planted zucinni for the chickens and some tomatoes for me and Ed

Red, what do you use your kohl rhabi for? I see it at the grocery store, but haven't branched out to try it yet.

Finally have my broody trained to stay in the dog kennel. She is fiesty. Ha ha Candled the eggs today, all is looking well.

My rooster has his collar on, it's working like a charm!  And, he's getting about business.  Only, I just watched him get a pullet..point of lay.  What's he thinking?   Never mind.  I think I know.
I am pretty sure he has gotten my RSL.   He may be getting too busy.  Now to think where I can put him so the ladies can have a time out when he really goes after them all.  All the time.   :/    He sure is pretty.   Nice looking EE.  Has the blue splash in his neck and tail, red and gold on the body and chest.

Where did you get your collar at? How old is your guy now? Mine is about 4 months this week and still not crowing. Yay! I really need to get a collar though for when it happens.
