Baby bunnies are the best thing ever! Next to baby humans...

They arrived last night! 4 living out of 5. Can't wait to see how they turn out.

Very interesting. They are beautiful birds in their own right, but I guess it is the darkest brown eggs that really set them apart. So you focus on blue because they are laying good eggs for you, but when folks want to buy chicks they are asking for black? The blue are so beautiful. I surprised that people ask for more black.

It looks like I need to sell, cull, or trade out my clean leg, cuckoo, and blue roo. At least the clean leg and cuckoo are pullets, should make it easier. This golden cuckoo is amazing though. From JPS poultry. They sell show grade stock.

This is very helpful, thank you!
out of curiosity, how much would you sell that one for (if you indeed are selling it lol)? (and where are you located at)

I'm looking to expand my flock with one dark egg layer, and possibly an olive egger... I think my husband has lost his mind... but I'm going to take full advantage of it! hahahaha!

okay, so my husband has gotten on board with expanding our flock.... our limit is 6, however, he says we can expand to 10! (SWEET!) He may have lost his mind... but I'm going to take FULL advantage of it! *evil cackle* .
I have been giving the excess eggs free to my neighbors for the past few months... but we decided yesterday that we are going to teach our kids how to take care of the chickens, eggs, and customers. And then they can sell the eggs for $1 a dz to earn a little summer cash. since we've been taking care of our neighbors... my husband thinks they'll have our backs if we expand our little flock over the limit ;)

That being said... I'd love to get a chocolate egg layer, an olive egger, maybe a nice blue egg.... I have 2 - 3 week old chicks right now I could put them in with if they're around that age... Anyone have any available? (I am also going for if I like the look... and if they have a good personality, that's a major plus too, as they are just going to be used as pets/egg layers and not for breeding).

Strangely I paid more for this chicken then any of my others. I would have to ask $30 to break even with her. My wife really likes her as she stands out in the flock so I will probably hang on to her. Heck, I wouldn't pay $30 for a bird unless I knew it was Show Worthy and I honestly have no idea if this girl is or not.

I do have a 3 week old dark egg layer that I could sell. She is a clean legged Black Copper Marans from the Little Peddler line. I got her from a breeder in KY so she is not from a hatchery. If you want her to breed you may not want clean legs, but if you just want dark eggs she should be perfect for that. I would sell her for $8. I'm in Herriman, but I work in the Thanksgiving Point area and could meet up there. I'm 95% sure she is a she, but if she turned out to be a roo I would be glad to take it back and give you your money back.

that could work :) let me check with my husband, and see what he says... I can absolutely meet up at Thanksgiving point. I will let you know a bit later today. when do you work usually?

9-5 every week day. :) I have underground parking so I can keep her in an open box in my car for a few hours if you can only meet at lunch.
