Utah!

okay, so my husband has gotten on board with expanding our flock.... our limit is 6, however, he says we can expand to 10! (SWEET!) He may have lost his mind... but I'm going to take FULL advantage of it! *evil cackle* .
I have been giving the excess eggs free to my neighbors for the past few months... but we decided yesterday that we are going to teach our kids how to take care of the chickens, eggs, and customers. And then they can sell the eggs for $1 a dz to earn a little summer cash. since we've been taking care of our neighbors... my husband thinks they'll have our backs if we expand our little flock over the limit ;)

That being said... I'd love to get a chocolate egg layer, an olive egger, maybe a nice blue egg.... I have 2 - 3 week old chicks right now I could put them in with if they're around that age... Anyone have any available? (I am also going for if I like the look... and if they have a good personality, that's a major plus too, as they are just going to be used as pets/egg layers and not for breeding).

I have a three week old, that is supposed to be an OE. Came from a pretty dark blue egg, but the seller has marans, and he breeds them to be OE's. She is all black. The comb looks pretty red for this age, but pretty sure it's a girl from the beginning. You are more than welcome to have her. Starting to thin out some of my babies. I have two others that I am watching, and OE that is point of lay..saw her in the nest box today...so good on that color. Let me know.

Red, I'm so jealous. I want horses. Were they splashing? :)

And speaking of tiny animals, they have mini-jersey cows that are about 40 inches tall. I am dying for one of those!

Woops! Sorry Gus. I didn't see this until now. I was spraying the horses and ducks with the hose to cool them off. The Appaloosa loves it, and the ducks don't mind so long as it's a short shower :)

I hope everyone is ok and clucks are safe after that horrible storm last night. The pony I bought for my grand kids was delivered right in the middle of that mess. We drove down redwood road to get to the place where we are boarding her. It was a mess Cars off the road in the road flooded. They closed the road right behind us. Got to the place waiting for the pony big lighting and thunder pouring rain and here she came. So there I am under an umbrella with my oxygen on my shoulder unloading the pony and trying to check her out but it was hard to see in the hard rain even with a flashlight, I gave up and just put her in the corral. Poor pony and poor me even with the umbrella I was soaked. But all is well Pony was happy and dry this morning so was I. It was however an adventure.

So happy that you and pony are ok! Sounds like it was an adventure!
I would love to see pics of her when you get a chance!

Glad all is well for you, Sundance. We had a river going down our road again last night. I'm glad I put the ducks away - they probably would have been a mile away with all the water!
