she's active and actually I'm feeling really quite good being this late. Everyone that realizes how late I am are always "I'm so sorry!" but actually I'm feeling just fantastic! yesterday I had a really strong set of contractions, starting around 5 and ended around 11 pm... but they weren't stable enough for me to go in... and usually above 5 min. Progress is progress though!

Get to watch Hummingbirds from our front window. There are a lot of different colored ones that show up. Can't see the green with this little camera on this one.

I know it's a long shot, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Our tiny bantam roo has started to crow and he has to go. I'd obviously prefer he not be eaten, but he is a rooster and a mixed breed at that.
However, he is very small (pigeon sized maybe) and very friendly (we've handled him almost daily since he was two days old).






Pics are from a week or two ago so he's changed a little bit. His hackle feathers are coming in nice and long with a red hue to them. His body is also getting red/brown fringing on the feathers. He looks like he's rusting.
I'm not home at the moment to get updated photos of him.

Eggsbert I hope you can find a home for him! I have four of my Icelandic roos on KSL. (Yes, I really do have more than four ) Hoping they go soon or I'll have to make soup. I really want to be on better terms with the neighbors.

Warning: rant ahead!

I had to boot my turkey hen off her nest today. She's been out there for at least six weeks with nothing hatching. I meant to do it before today, but it's funny how everything happens when you try to make a task list. Anyway, her eggs started exploding when I shooed her off the nest and then she tried to eat them. UGH!!!! So I almost lost it and now I have fresh fertilizer eggs buried in our manure pile. And I have two broody hens that keep ruining my eggs when I forget to collect for a couple of days. One of them has been sitting for at least as long as the turkey! Boy are they going to get a rude surprise tonight. I'm setting up a broody buster after work. I'm tired of wasted eggs!

red, do you have a wire cage..is that what you use as a broody buster? I have one that I really like.

I hope I can too, he's just the sweetest little guy. Doesn't kick or scratch when I hold him, doesn't run away when I go to pick him up, puts up with me grabbing and poking his wattles and comb. If only he didn't crow.
We'd try a crow collar if we didn't have a cop as one of our neighbors and weren't already on shaky ground with our neighbors.

That's terrible about the Icelandics. As I said before, if I could have roosters I'd have totally taken at least one from you. Alas, city coding says roosters are a no-go. Even crowing hens have to be removed.
When I move (for real) I'm going to seriously look into houses zoned for agriculture or look for cities with fewer regulations. I'd really like to breed me some chickens.
