Pic's! its time for pics ;-)

Mine still don't care for bananas, but they will climb up my body for peas. Also, tomatoes were a big hit last fall.  They would not eat them when they were little but by the time fall came they were pillaging my plants.  It looked like a bloody battle in my yard.  They get food all over themselves and each other, then head to the pond to clean up then repeat the process as often as possible. funny ducks.

Thinking of your ducks with the tomatoes still makes me laugh today. I want to plant some just for the entertainment ;) here are my guys from today. We just finished the temporary shelter. Used and old dog run with added chicken wire on top for safety. We also laid down some new sod since the ground was hard dirt. The have a pool and a home (which still needs bedding) and finished it off with a canvas type cover over half of it for shade :) very happy ducks!

They look happy ;-) That is a pretty nice shelter. May your turf live long and prosper ;-)

My cousin has ducks and just lets them run the yard. She never locks them up. They just bed down under the shrubbery. They really don't need much if there are no predators to worry about.
I still have mine in their "temporary" shelter, - also a dog run . I spent so much time & money building their pond last year, their permanent home didn't quite get finished. I did put a water-proof roof on the run and enclosed it with plastic and wood for the winter (not that they needed it that weather proof, I just worried.) It was my plan to finish their home this year, then I got chickens...and put them in another dog run. OMG I need help.

That whole fiasco with the tomatoes last year still makes me laugh when I think about it. I was so freaked out, then It was just funny. I put the tomatoes in the same place yesterday, I anticipate some amount of thievery but at least I will know it is playing with food not carnage.

Welcome to BYC @cheryl555 I hope they are all girls too ;-) I have ended up with one (very flighty) brown leghorn rooster and one RhodeIsland Red rooster that has started pecking at my shoes. He mellows out when I pick him up though ;-) I think the rest are girls. Its hard to say. Unfortunately the first time anyone of them crow, I'm going to have to heat up the pot. I don't think my neighbours would be that understanding.

Hope everyone is enjoying this lovely spring weather!

Heya, does anyone know where I can find a female duck for sale? Preferably between two and four months old. Breed doesn't matter.

DH was working at one of the schools here yesterday and they had a duckling keep coming o to the playground to be with the kids. We brought her home because we didn't want to take her to the shelter. Looks like she got attacked by a dog or something, so she may have been wild and gotten orphaned. She can't really use one wing and has a bad leg. I just need to find a friend for her while I'm gone to work each day. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hello, I haven't been on for quite some time but I have a question because about 8 weeks ago or so I got me some new chicks. There a starting to show there personality and I absolutely love new babies or should I say teenagers. LOL. Well out of 5 of my leghorn chicks I ended up with roosters. I have never had a rooster and now I have two. I have no idea what to do with them, do I have make a different pen for them, can they be with my chickens? Do they eat different food? I might have to give them away because I don't know if I am a rooster person. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
