I did a rescue on Monday. Not chickens but a newborn baby LLama whose mother died giving birth. Everyone should have a baby Llama in their living room, right?

OMG THAT IS SO ADORABLE! i want a llama. ;-) What a fun experience.

this baby is soo good he poops and pees outside. Hes staying at my daughters vet clinic usually. the grandkids are bottle feeding him. I baby sit him when they go out of town to sheep shows. He is going to be a coyate guard for the show sheep when he grows up. Right now hes bonding with the sheep and kids so he will be sweet with them when he grows up. its been a fun experience and this little baby got really lucky that my daughter the vet was wanting to get a llama for her sheep. Its a riot when the patients are in her waiting room and the llama wanders in to say hi. he is doing really good so far and hes quit crying for his mama. When he hears the bottle shaking he comes running. There aren't too many llamas that get to ride in a cadallac, I turned it into a llama ambulance. pretty funny he would sit in the dog bed with his head on my lap then get restless and cry for his mom. He'd suck my finger and lay back down. My daughter was waiting for him. She stuck a tube in his stomach and fed him that way, after his belly was full he wasn't so frantic and started sucking the bottle. He drinks a cup every few hours. Goats milk and colostumn

so i read about a interesting cross. a welsummer and a cream legbar. it makes a sex link chicken and from my understanding they would be olive eggers too.... they call them welbars. i thought it was interesting and figured i would mention it in case some of you have not heard about them

I got the chicken pluckin' fingers for the whizbang chicken plucker in the mail today. Im so excited. I never thought I would want an automatic chicken plucker for my birthday, but there ya go ;-)

Now to get sweetie to get it put together.....

@sundancenbare where is she a vet at? I think I would like to take my animals there ;-)

Considering that is the WORST job in my mind I think that joy is valid......I didnt eat chicken for 10 years due to a chicken plucking chore one year....

My incubator saga is over. No chicks, not even putting the surviving eggs under a mama hen worked. But...I got some day old chicks from thanksgiving point and a nice lady over on the facebook forum, so my hen could have something to show for all her dedicated sitting. I have no clue what the thanksgiving point chicks are, but the other ones are splash maran / silkie mixes. It should be fun to see how those grow out.

Yesterday when I got them, I played stick chicks under a hen. I put the ones from thanksgiving point under in the afternoon (I know there are differing opinions on that). I think I've decided adding chicks at night is better because they are less likely to wander off. Plus, in the afternoon it was hot enough in the coop that they didn't need to be under mama, so they were wandering off to play. I kept checking on them and tucking them back under. By this afternoon, everyone seemed to know who mama was, even mama, who got off her nest to take the chicks to eat at the feeder.

Yay, mama hens are so adorable.

she owns Pet urgent care in Orem is a night and weekend ER and Animal Medical Service in Orem. I think I get to baby sit him for three days. Starting Monday or Tuesday

so it seems i have a magpie with an identity issue. its been spending a lot of time with my girls, it will sit down with them in the yard looking for bugs and such. and tonight when i went to tuck them in it was on the roost. i dont like wild birds being that close to my girls. its odd. my girls are confused a bit but dont mind it too much it seems. its like it thinks its a chicken lol. i am friendly with the magpies, they keep hawks away and such. the girls have been friendly with them too. but i swear this magpie thinks its a chicken lol. it just better not give my girls anything or start eating eggs or causing any harm to the flock.
