Utah!

Hi All,

I'm in Cottonwood Heights. I just built my coop, and have 6 Ameraucanas from IFA.

Cottonwood heights originally told me I wasn't zoned for chickens, but then I emailed my councilperson / representative and send them the provisions / statutes I was reading. Now I have to have an inspector come out and check out my coop.

Hope to have it this week or next week and then be fully legal.

Oh, here it's 40 feet from neighbor's house. 3 feet from property line, and 6 feet from your house. I think it's good for up to 25 foul (of any type).

Can't wait to be legal!

Bryan / Boots.

2 Free Frizzle Roos!

That is what is left from the person who moved and left her chickens. They are in southern UT so PM me if you want them

I live in West Jordan. I don't know if you can or can't have chickens. It is hard to understand the law. You can have pets other than dogs and cats. What did you send Them? Hooked

Here's the ordinance for West Jordan:

West Jordan Contact: Planning & Zoning Dept. 569-5060

Zones A-1, A-5, A-20 allow unlimited chickens. Zone RR with at least .50 acres allows up to 40 “animal points”. Chickens=4 points each. Residents may go to the city council to propose a change.

You have to be zoned Agricultural to have chickens. However, I know there are many residents in areas zoned "Residential" in WJ who want chickens. I would urge you to call your City Council rep and propose a change in the ordinance. I think there might be a zoning map online but it might be easier to just call the zoning dept. (see phone # above).

Hope this helps!

Hi Draper Chick,
Where do you get all of your information?
And, I'd still like to attend one of your classes, but didn't get a response from you. Can you PM me?

I'd love to attend, too! Do you have any openings?

I don't have any more openings--sorry! I'm not going to schedule any more because the season is almost over and I'm very pregnant.

Really, it's a very basic beginner class. I can email the handouts to anyone who would like them. Just PM me.

BTW--does this board send me a message if I get a PM? Last time I got one, I didn't even know it was there.

Thanks!

I have WAAAAAYYYYY to many though and and wondering if anyone here wanted some pullets? These chicks came from an NPIP certified hatchery and have been handled almost daily. They are healthy and quite ingenious in finding ways to get themselves out of the box in my garage!

I have RIR, Barred Rocks, Black Sex Links and Silver Laced Wyandottes. I have 3-4 extra of each. I am new to this, but all are supposed to be good dual purpose birds. All are supposed to be pullets too. I would love to re-coup a little of my expenses if I can - I was thinking $4 a pullet. But we can talk about it if you think that's not reasonable.

I'll put them up on KSL if nobody here wants any - I wanted to try here first though! Oh- I'm in Heber, but come to Park City and SLC regularly and I'm sure we can figure out a way to get them to you. Email me directly if you're interested! [email protected]

Happy Clucking!
Nancy
