is this the same kimbobim that comments at fMh?

if so, howdy!

Yup, that's me! Not creative enough to remember more than one online name, so I'm Kimbobim just about everywhere I go.

How many chickens do you have? We're starting our coop tonight - if we don't get more wind and rain here in Highland.

kimbobim, nice to see another fmh'er online. i'm not smart enough to think of another name ether.

i currently have 13 chickens. some died. /sigh. i also have one little duckling that i'm hoping to raise.

you said wind and rain in highland. it's been super sunny and hot here in salt lake.

if anyone has duck info, i'm totally interested. he was found and basically dropped on my doorstep a week ago. i really want to know if my chickens will try to kill it and how long i have to keep him away from my flock. (but that's for another thread)

thanks all.

We have 7 chickens, had 8 but one died (kids are still sad, but hoping we'll get an Ameracauna/EE in her place). We are getting 4 more in as soon as our coop is done. We've been planning and plotting for months, but the weather hasn't been cooperative on the days we could work, a dear friend died, a trip to Sonoma to see my sister after she had to put down her 18 year old dog, the kids keep expecting food and clean underwear on a regular basis... the world we live in and life in general has been conspiring against our coop being built. And in the meantime our plan keeps getting larger and larger - it's up to 8 x 10 now. This morning our neighbor brought his enormous orange backhoe and leveled the area for the coop and run - so nice to have neighbors who own construction businesses and earth-moving equipment! It would have taken us days to do what he did in 45 minutes. We'll get at least the deck and maybe a few walls framed today. Woohoo!

Highland seems to be its own little island of freakish weather. My folks live in Cedar Hills, five miles straight east of me - we'll get 8 inches of snow and their yard will be totally bare. We're supposed to get high winds and thunderstorms this afternoon. I hope we can get something done or I'll be shouting dark curses at the weather gods once again.

Kimbobim- Are you talking about Sonoma, CA?? That's where my husband is from and I'm from Napa! Small world!

Also, I'm getting some Ameracauna chicks on June 17 if you're interested. My kids will be selling them for about $3.75.

a trip to Sonoma to see my sister

i just discovered that i have an aunt and grandmother from sonoma county. we were hoping to go out there and meet them this summer. kinda wierd to visit family i never knew i had but i'll regret it if i don't.

is it a nice place? you can send me an email if you like.

i've got two EE's that i'm thinking of getting rid of. the 4 cochin bantams are gonna start laying any day now and if 7-9 eggs a day are too many, 13 will be over the top!!!
