Thanks for asking - Lola is almost completely re-feathered, except for a few on the very top of her head that are still spiky blue quills - very punk. She still looks smaller than she did before - she's covered, but they're not full-length yet (make any sense?). She hasn't started laying again, haven't gotten an egg from her since the first week of December. I'm afraid she got a little bit of frostbite on one of the very tips of her comb, but none of the other birds show any signs of frostbite, so I'm assuming she was doing her best to keep her body warm (other than her wing feathers, she was essentially nude - I swear I'm making her a sweater next year!).
I saw your frostbite thread on the BLRWs - I almost called on them, too! They looked gorgeous. It makes me a little sick to hear how bad their feet are - when you say they'll lose part of their feet, does that mean the toe bones fall off once the flesh is completely dead? Ugh. Those poor things. They're lucky you took them!
Stand With A Fiddle - I saw that Jersey Giant - so pretty. Did you get her? I'd love to have one, so I keep thinking... 'hmmm. I'm going through Logan next weekend on the way home from the cabin at Bear Lake... But I'd have to hold her in a box on my lap for 2.5 hours to get her home - we're taking the truck up and our standard poodle will be with us...' Realistically, I shouldn't get any more birds until it warms up a bit. She sure looks like a beauty, though. I spend way too much time on KSL.com's poultry section looking at birds, dreaming and plotting.
Did anyone go to the UPFA meeting on Friday? I'm going to try to make it next month. Their Spring show is March 12-14, and I'm very definitely going!
