She (assuming here) probably didn't have the correct roosts. I used the long side of a 2x4 and cut 45º angles on the corners so they could get a better grip. That way they can put their whole body on their feet during the cold winters...

It's about time!!

Remember those 4 Americana's I told you we got last easter? Yes folks, it's been 40+(!!!) weeks.
2 of the hens have been laying for months, and I've been eyeing the other 2 for the stew pot. (but I guess I have a soft heart....)

Yesterday I got a little blue egg and thought, "hmm...."

Today, I confirmed. I got 3 blue eggs from the Americanas! The 3rd one is finally laying!

Wow. 40 weeks? I could have had my wife grow another baby since then!

Also, I still have about an 11 week old Buff Orpington Roo (cheep cheep!) that was hatched Oct 15th from eBay eggs on a broody Black Australorp.
Any takers? Hasn't started to crow yet (that I know of...)

And lastly... I've been getting a lot of chicken mags in the mail. Haven't decided where I'll buy, but in the next serveral weeks I should be getting 25+ Buff Orpington pullets (or 18 BO's and 7+ others mixed in?) from somewhere... I only need to keep the 18 BO's. (only.... am I nuts? That will make 35 for a couple of months. Sheeze... ) Let me know who's interested in splitting an order.
