I second what NurseDr had to say. My experience with the county folks easy and painless. They seemed most concerned with the coop being setback far enough from any neighbors. I was actually still under construction when they came by the first time so they just asked what my plans were to meet all requirements and asked if they had permission to come back in a week and enter my yard if i wasn't home, which I wasn't, for the final inspection. About a week and four days later, I got my permit in the mail. All in all, I would have to say that the county folks were nice, helpful and understanding. I wouldn't worry too much about the process, call 'em up and get it started.

New member in Sanpete county! 2 Leghorns, one Buff Orpington, one Hamburg, one black Australorp, one EE, one cinnamon queen?, and one white with greenish legs (not sure what she is). They're all pullets, not quite yet laying. May be in the market for bantam pullet...

I wanted to say to my fellow Utah Peeps!

I'm very new to chickens. I got three leghorns just before Easter. Two turned out to be cockerels.

I bought 5 more chicks at the end of April- 4 EE and 1 SLW.

I want to add a Black Copper Marans to the group, and then we're complete. We don't plan to keep the rooster forever.

Anyone have some bantams they would part with. I am looking to buy some bantam hens. Hoping to find some within 30miles of me - I live in American Fork. Would prefer them to be laying or close to laying, but not over 18mo. Not to picky on breeds, but I on not wanting any Old English or Sebrights. I tried KSL, but have had no luck. Thought I would try my friends on BYC - thanks!

Get this..... I had a RIR go missing for 3 days earlier this week. We stopped seeing her on Thursday afternoon, but didn't think much of it because we haven't been able to figure out how to not have 2 of our ladies (both RIR's) go over the fence to explore. They've defeated every containment measure. Friday, no RIR. By Saturday we were thinking that either she became a raccoon victim, or was stolen by the poor people who were driving around our neighborhood during bulk trash pickup earlier that week.

Sunday, I was leaving my house to go to Church (this was around noon, since we have the later block now) and I stopped to give them treats on my way out. She reappeared, looking great. We were all very happy to see her, but I can't imagine what she had been up to for those 3 days.

Yeah, I was thinking that's next for the two that keep doing it. I've hesitated to do that due to Tim getting his dog for the summer (visitation, of sorts). Now that we've established that the dog will be harmless, I think I'm ready to go there....
