SpeckledHills I'm interested also the only thing I'm curious about is calcium and I'm also glad about it being pellets.

I also have a hen who is limping?? We've been fighting a mite problem but I think they are gone. But she is still hopping around favoring one leg. She has a little brown spot on the bottom of that foot it doesn't look swollen or any thing. Her face is still a little pale but she eats and drinks and hobbles around with the other girls I'm kind of at a loss??

Any suggestions?

The brown spot suggests bumblefoot. I would look it up and see if thats what it is. There's a lot of threads on how to deal with it. Good luck

Yep. I'd say bumblefoot. There is a lot of information out there on it. (Here's a good link with pictures and a "how to") https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=236649&p=1

Have
fun, we've been dealing with it all summer. We noticed it with one who started limping and had a swollen foot. Then another with only a swollen foot. The rest we've treated have all had it with no other symptoms.

From what I understand is that it's just a cut on the bottom of the foot that gets infected with a type of bacteria. Doesn't matter how they cut it, but a lot of times it is from hard ground. We have some old ladders for them to perch on during the day and I think that caused it. They LOVE those ladders. It's either that or their outdoor run, it does have hard ground in it.

It usually occurs in heavier breeds, in roosters, and with chickens kept on wire or hard ground.

Here's the wikipedia definition - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bumblefoot_(infection)

Thanks for the enthusiasm!

I wanted feed to be able to be fed to a variety of chickens. Therefore, it will have a calcium level formulated to be safe enough (ie. not too high) for growing chickens to eat (I believe about 3% but will verify as I post Online Order Form), but somewhat less than the optimal level for laying hens (3.85%). I will be selling Calcite you can also offer free-choice to hens, and small gravity-fed feeders to effectively feed it in, if you'd want those.

I will be delivering orders the middle of next week. Should have Order Form up by tomorrow.

Thanks again to anyone who wants to support and benefit from this effort!
