Utah!

I have about 15 layer hens (hatched the first week of August LAST year, so they're almost 14 months old) that I need to find new homes for. I'm going to be moving back east in the Spring and I'm trying to place my livestock sooner rather than later so I don't end up in a bind come moving time.

Most of them are EE's from McMurray's but I also have a few mixed breed chickens (brown egg layers) that my friend gave me. I get eggs in multiple shades of green, blue, and dark pink, along with the brown ones. These girls lay eggs very consistently and in predictable locations

They are free-ranged in a pasture with my two goats and a pony, and they have been around a livestock-savvy dog. They are used to people but are not used to being handled.

I live up in Farr West near Smith & Edwards. I'm willing to accept any reasonable offer for one or all.

Email me at [email protected] if you're interested.

Thanks! Kathleen

Too many chickens!

SOLD

Nice to meet you fellow BYC members who bought 7 of my chicks! Hope to see you in the recipe section. Thanks again for the salsa

This gives you a PREMIUM QUALITY layer feed (that's also good for young chickens) for less than you pay for most regular feeds.

You can get this discount at either of the 2 south Salt Lake area farms, at the UFPA show in Farmington, & by delivery. See my website at www.poultrypedia.com

Does anyone around Salt Lake have any true Standard-bred Ameraucanas for sale? I'm looking for some. Bantam or Large, ages chick thru 3 years old.

Please email me if you do. Thanks much!

I was discussing the feed I'm selling on another site, and figured I'd post the info here, too, so all my typing would get double miles.

I did TONS of research while formulating this feed, & there's quite a bit of science behind it.

FORMULATION
* This Layer Feed was scientifically formulated using a software program that auto-adjusts supplements for optimum digestibility and complete poultry nutrition, working together with someone who's specialized in poultry feed for many years.

PROTEIN
--This Scratch Feed has a MUCH higher protein level than most -- 14.5% compared to 9-10%.
--Triticale is a hybrid of wheat-plus-rye and has a broader base of amino acids than either wheat or corn, making its protein more digestible. The Triticale added to these feeds was tested and has 19% protein.

SOY
--Some recent reports have linked soy to several health concerns, including "female cancers." There is controversy on these issues, and each person will have to evaluate for themselves. One article with some info: http://reliableanswers.com/med/soy.asp
(Note: Soybeans do have "antinutritional factors" for chickens when raw, so should be processed.)
* These Layer Pellets contain just 5% soymeal (processed), while most commercial layer feed contains 25-30%.

CORN
* Corn has higher risks of mycotoxins than most grains, especially when harvested in a wet year like 2009 was locally. This Scratch Grain and Layer Feed both have below-average levels of corn.

ANIMAL BYPRODUCTS
Personally, I am not against feeding chickens some animal products. However, there are potential concerns, which include:
--Some hormones, antibiotics and chemicals used on source animals can remain and will be eaten by the chickens.
--"Animal byproducts" can include chicken meat meal and feather meal. Many people are opposed to cannibalistic feeding. Blood can make up a fair portion of "animal byproducts," also, which some people aren't comfortable with.
--Salmonella is commonly found in a significant percentage of animal byproducts (though this is not shown to generally be a major cause of salmonella in chickens).
* These Layer Pellets have just 0.2% pork tallow as its only "animal byproduct". Though it does have a little Grasshopper Meal mixed in as a treat :)

How's that for more-than-you-ever-thought-you'd-want-to-know?

I've worked to make these feeds really solid (though I don't begin to believe I know everything about poultry feed), and I am excited to be able to sell them to local people at very affordable prices. I expect this feed to be all sold within a month, but hope to have more made in the future.

Please contact me through WWW.POULTRYPEDIA.COM if you want in on this feed batch!

West Valley City here. Not legal yet to raise chickens within city limits, but my daughter lives in South Salt Lake where it is legal and we
want to go into this together.
The one who mentioned he had Buff Orpingtons...we would be very interested.
